About Barbara Lee
Barbara Lee is an international author, award winning speaker, consultant, trainer and group facilitator who has committed her vocational journey to the non-profit sector where she is an advocate for diverse populations, particularly the marginalized and voiceless in our society.
Barbara is The Sex Minister. An ordained minister, she served the interfaith community of Extended Grace for nine years. The mission of this community was to recognize the needs of those on the margins and act in tangible ways to respond to those needs through practices of radical inclusivity and justice.
Barbara is also the Founder and Former Chair of the Muskegon County Domestic Violence Healthcare Initiative and CEO of Pilgrim Spirit Tours. She was born and raised in West Michigan and, while she is a world traveler, volunteer and guide, she makes her home in Grand Haven, Michigan.
"Barbara Lee's book is unremitting in its clarity, honesty, and good nature. As such, its successful journey into print borders on the miraculous. So many popular books on religion, faith, or personal change are either vapid rehearsals of what everyone assumes or ideas being ground to an overly sharp point in service of this notion or that. For me, Tension in the Tank redeems the genre. It is precisely what it seeks to convey, describing and championing the deliberate cultivation of everything that a jaded, fearful, and spiritually constricted world holds worthless. As such, it is an intellectual roadmap to unlikely places of joy, maturity, and wakefulness that will actually take you there. Good for her! And good for us all."
