The meh: Shipping took about 10 business, so plan accordingly if you need this in a hurry.
The bad: I ordered two of these and both arrived with a chip on their finish due to poor packaging. They arrived separately from each other so that's twice that poor packaging failed. Also even though I ordered 2 25# kettlebells they are a slightly different shape in the yoke. Which causes me concern regarding the QA of the piece. I'll be ordering from a different manufacturer for my next set.
In the end it's exactly what it's supposed to be, but it could have been a bit better with a greater attention to detail from the manufacturer/distributor.
Saw another review showing a bell arriving with paint chips and coming out of it's shipping box, so I was a little worried. I need not have been. Got two KettleBells, 15# and 20# in separate shipping boxes. I've posted pictures to show how they arrived. Inside the standard Amazon "smiley face" shipping box was packing paper and a second smaller box secured with 4 plastic bands, as shipped from a factory in China. Yes, these are made in China. After cutting the bands and packing tape, I opened the double-thickness box to find a third box inside it. Inside the 3rd box, inside a protective plastic bag, and secured with styrofoam wedges was a perfect KettleBell, just as it left the factory. Smooth painted finish, no burrs or voids.
I'll look for some Made in the USA KettleBells, but for now these are just fine. Highly recommended. Simple, no moving parts, just cast iron Bells, painted black. I've seen other "gym quality" CAP KettleBells in Kgs and Lbs, with hard rubber bumpers on the bottom --not these, just painted iron, nothing else.
It came to me well packaged: the KB was inside a plastic bag and sitting inside the original box (itself comprised of two boxes) plus styrofoam, *and* inside a larger Amazon outside box! Which explains why the KB arrived in pristine condition, zero chipping or scratching of the shiny black enamel coating. Sounds like Amazon has listened to the feedback/complaints of some of the first reviewers of this item concerning packaging.
Since this is the lone KB in my home, I am not worried about it getting chipped by contact with other KBs or when using a rack (I don't have one, heh). It's true the handle's smoothness could become slippery if my hands, but that's what chalk and/or gloves are for.
Only reason I took off a single star, the loop to hold the kettlebell isn't very wide. I am a slightly shorter than average male and felt that it was barely wide enough for one hand, let alone some two handed exercises.
This is my first venture into the world of kettlebells, and I am really happy I made the decision to go for it. I was looking for something to use at home to help build muscle without having to buy a set of clunky barbells, and this seemed like the best option.
Not only is it good for building muscle, it is a full body work out! You get your legs, core, arms, shoulders, back, pecks, neck, everything all working out with a variety of really simple, fun exercises.
Was originally going to go for the 35lb and a 15lb but I decided my wallet was a bit tight for that and went happy medium. Glad I did! Don't think I'll bother with the 15, probably just get the 35 at some point as the 25 is not bad in terms of weight at all. I wasn't able to do a ton of curl reps, but I will just build that strength as I go.
Definitely recommend getting into this if you want to change up your work out or add something to it!!
