Her wavy hip length, center part brunette hair is made up of several colors of brown which is very realistic in its look.. She has two-tone brown eyes with heavier eyeliner for a cool, modern vibe. Her shadow is on the lids only an is in a smokey type of eye color. Her lashes are painted on with delicate wisps visible. as well as painted on eyelashes. Her lips are a soft neutral peach and her blush is applied to look natural. For those who track this kind of information, her face mold is Karl Lagerfeld.
The body tone of this doll is pale and is articulated consistent with other dolls in this line. However, this is less articulated than the more recent fully-articulated Barbies. She has articulation at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees. She has slim ankles which do not bend. Her hands have mostly divided fingers with only the middle and ring fingers on each hand molded together and with a soft burgundy nail polish
The clothing on this doll is wonderful. She has on a short knit medium heather gray sweater dress with a large cowl collar. The hem and wrists are finished as one would really expect from a sweater. The sweater closes in the back with metal snaps. Barbie has on a pair of pull-on dark gray underpants and pull-on calf-to-thigh leg warmers in the same thin dark gray heather knit material. Her knee high boots are in a medium brown tone with “laces” all the way up. While the boots may be removable, I am keeping this doll dressed as-is (though I may buy a second one so I can change up the clothes.)
Her accessories include plastic metallic silver hoop earrings (may be removable but I could not get them out easily), a metallic silver smart phone, a burgundy journal/portfolio (does not open), a well made and delicate pencil, a cup of coffee from her favorite shop, black sunglasses with dark translucent lenses and a gorgeous faux suede dark brown shoulder strap purse (open at the top) that has enough room to store her items.
The promo photos represent the doll well. The only thing that is staged is the cup of coffee in her hand. I am using a clear plastic band to hold it as there isn't any way for Barbie to grip the cup. I would have loved something like a hole in the cup that Barbie's thumb could fit in to keep the cup in her hand.
I love that this Barbie is old school with a journal/portfolio and pencil rather than an tablet. She certainly has the City Chic vibe that the designer was going for but at the same time she has an definite artsy feel to her. I can see this Barbie in Paris studying art as well as shopping in any of the great urban area open shopping centers (in my mind's eye, I see downtown Seattle – maybe the coffee and the sweater lead me that way.) She is a great addition to my collection and leaves me waiting to see what wonderful new creations will be added to this line next year.
