I had the honor and pleasure of catching Jake Owen in concert opening for Keith Urban and really enjoyed his performance (as did my then fiance, now wife; along with my daughter). He brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to his performances and that all shines through in his music.

Thankfully this album was due to be released just a few weeks after that concert performance so we were treated to much of the music that comprises this album as part of his set (along with some old favorites that he was able to work into the show too!).

One of the favorites, at least for me, is the song that starts the album out: [I'll Go] Anywhere with You. If your dreamhouse is a doublewide trailer, sitting back in the hollar, on a country road, then baby that's where we'll go... I'll go anywhere... West Virginia, baby I don't care... Anywhere with you. It's a catchy song that is easy on the ears that also easily hooks you into singing along with the chorus. It's easy to see this song being released as a single in the future, perhaps as a follow-up to the title song which has received so much airplay.

Keepin' It Country is a song that is as easy to figure out as its title. Consider it a recipe for keepin' things country.

Wide Awake is a love song about laying awake in the middle of the night, thinking of your loved one. A little bit rockin' with perhaps a bit of pop influence added in, and a sprinkle of piano mixed in with the guitars (reminding me a bit of Phil Vassar, for examples: Greatest Hits 1).

Barefoot Blue Jean Night, the title track, follows that track and just helps to build up the enjoyment for the tracks that follow.

I had no idea who Jake Owen was until I heard a brief interview with him on my local country music station - and I fell immediately for his enthusiasm, his sense of integrity, and his "come on, sit down and hang out with us" attitude. I've owned his first two CDs for about 18 months now, and they are at the top of my playlist.

This new CD is pure Jake all the way. A mixture of styles - some serious, some playful, all performed with that sense of "let's all just hang out and have some fun" attitude I love so much. No country artist I've come across projects it as well as he does. When you listen to Jake's music, you feel like you're spending time with a good friend. What's better than that?

(And, I dare you not to sing along with "Barefoot Blue Jean Night"!)

Music is up to taste, I personally listen to all styles of music, excluding a few, country is by far my favorite. I got this for the song the CD is named after, and I like the entire thing, but my favorite song is still Barefoot Blue Jean Night. Definitely worth listening to elsewhere before making a purchase. As a side note: Whoever said the record companies are going out of business, has not met me, I have the ability to listen to my phone through my car, but I often choose not to as every now and then when I plug it in or hit a bump the playlist resets itself and sets up to play the first alphabetical CD. So it is nice to have a physical copy of a CD to take with you everywhere.

Nothing unusual but definitely enjoyable. I like listening to upbeat music and Jake Owen's CD is definitely that. Feels good to listen to it on a warm, sunny day while I'm driving down the road in Georgia. Thanks, Jake!

This was in my stack of favorite CDs...then I accidentally left it in Nashville (of all places...) when I went there on vacation. Finally was able to repurchase it and I still love it.

There is a great mix of upbeat and slower tempo-ed songs.

Anywhere With You, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, The One That Got Away, and Alone With You are my favorites, but I like them all. I don't even skip any, which is fairly rare with me when listening to a straight CD (versus shuffle on Ipod)

I definitely recommend this, especially for country fans

I heard a song on the radio back in mid-2012, and it had a really unusual and original concept and sound: the song was "[I can't be] Alone with You" by Jake Owens. I had never heard of him at the time. But I really loved the song! Since then there have been several other hits from the album "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" and though I rarely buy music (usually I have a country-music radio station playing in the background) I realized this is a CD that I just had to have. The title number is a high-energy ode to a country girlfriend; "Alone with You" starts out "If your dream house --- is a double-wide trailer sittin' back in a holler on a country road". You gotta laugh and then feel warm fuzzies at the idea that a person's material worth isn't as important as to just be together. Then there is "the Journey of your Life" where a young man describes his relationship with his late grandfather; this is a song category that comes up from time to time and this particular version does a good job getting it across. The closer is "The one that got away" (She rolled in my little sandy town....) and it really drives home the sense of regret and loss with an emotional, high-energy performance. I liked each and every number on this CD and by the way, loved Amazon's Auto-rip feature so I can play it on my CD-player or my laptop. And another comment: I would rather have the CD than downloads for the sake of the insert with the lyrics. I like having the text to follow along until I get familiar with each song; also, the photos of Jake are cool, he looks like someone I'd love to get to know. And when the radio station moves to other artists I will have this recording to listen to and enjoy. I seldom review music purchases but am happy to give Jake 5 stars--highly recommended to all you country fans!
