I still like Rico Royal filed reeds for more of a easy blowing, brighter tone (like I'd use on a balled in jazzband, etc).
It's difficult to describe what it's like with reeds sometimes because, I suggest, it all depends on the player.
I started on a Royal strength 3 to a LaVoz medium hard; which by scale isn't a huge jump but around a half step harder. I chose medium hard because I was nervous to make a dramatic jump between reed strengths. So I chose to try the unfiled cut instead, which was completely new, and I like everything about it. :)
Great work La Voz!
Rather than search around in the music stores, I went for an order of these. It was great that the first one out of the box played for me. No more worries about being stuck without a reed.
