Bark Home is the solution so many parents need. It can be set up easily and is written in normal (not tech) language for the average parent to get set up and get on with other things. It is the perfect complement to BARKs already superior mobile device monitoring system.

It will detect when new devices join your network and all devices are monitored at a high level for extreme content, and then the ones you assign can be further controlled with screen time controls, block apps, filter websites etc. It works across phones, tablets, gaming consoles, smart TVs etc. You can set up screen time limits for bedtime and school time and will monitor school issued devices at the wifi level.

This version is in beta testing, but I have no doubt any hiccups found will be tended to by BARK like they always do. Could barely get it set up. Once it detected my internet connection the signal was crap. It took three tries just to finish the set up because my internet was running so slowly. I tested it by going to other websites but they wouldn't load at all. Very disappointing. Great concept.

Needs help with connection speed

First of all I am a big Bark fan and have been using the app for about 2 years. So I was excited to hear about the Bark home device. I installed this Bark Home device to my Smart/RG which is a modem and router in one that came from the internet company. It worked with it. There are 2 issues. First of all, when my son saw this, he was unplugging it and disconnecting it. So there is that. He complained it was making his XBOX slow. So I hardwired his XBOX directly to the modem and have selected his Xbox, his phone, and his Macbook to be Bark monitored. I have seen on my Bark app that it has blocked websites as well as working with the scheduled times. But it slows down the internet. We had trouble with our Apple TV being slow, and with loading websites on to our own Macbooks. I called our internet provider and had them run a test on our service and he said it is going at the highest rate speed it can. This morning I unplugged Bark and bam! our internet was fast again. I would LOVE to use this but it just can't clog up the internet speed with whatever it is doing. If anyone has further advice please let me know.

Expensive, poorly supported, fails at its basic function

I have a modem which is on the supported list and after a few hours of power cycling hardware, resetting computers and phones, .etc, I gave up. For a brief period, I did see some websites blocked on the two devices designated as child devices. But even then, when blocking was functioning, I went to sex.com and saw patently inappropriate material. I think that's the easiest test in the world, not sure what's up with that.

Even if I could get the device to function, it would still be useless for my needs because there doesn't seem to be any way to block devices from accessing the internet or the Web. No way to block ports like port 80, no way to block all sites with a simple *.*, no radio button to block all access, no apparent way of doing the most basic thing of all, just block it all.

I've been a long time Bark user with their mobile app and phone product. When the Bark Home was announced I hoped it would be a solution to all my other home network devices that let me avoid having to get something like a Disney Circle and pay yet another subscription. It does exactly that and no knocks against the Circle but I won't be buying it any time soon. The Bark Home monitors all kinds of social media sites, does content filtering, lets you turn off the Internet with the push of a button and just saves me time from having to worry about what my child is doing or unintentionally encountering while doing her schoolwork or playing with friends. In a time where we depend upon technology more than ever for our children to socialize with each other, Bark Home lets me not worry. You can also set devices on your network to be ignored completely (parent only devices) or shared devices so the amount of restriction isn't the same as what a child only device would be!
