Barlean's Organic Oils Virgin Coconut Oil extrcomes from the Philippine Island of Quezon, and is hand selected and harvested at the peak of flavor and nutritional value. It's also pressed and bottled on demand without chemicals.
Barlean's Coconut Oil is classified virgin, which means it's minimally processed, unrefined, and not deodorized with harsh solvents. It's also certified USDA Organic and backed by Barlean's 100-percent guarantee.
Rich in MCTs for Energy and Weight Control
A powerful source of nutrition, coconut oil is made up of special fatty acids called medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which make it unique among other fats. While we tend to think of triglycerides as bad, the medium-chain varieties are actually good for you. In fact, MCTs are widely used by high-endurance athletes because of their powerful energy-producing properties.
Coconut oil's high MCT count allows it to be metabolized as a carbohydrate to create immediate energy that can stimulate the entire body. Therefore, consuming coconut oil can help increase your metabolism and even help you lose weight.
Health Benefits of MCTs
The MCTs in Barlean's Coconut Oil--which include lauric acid, caprylic acid, and capric acid--have been reported to possess a wide variety of health benefits. Some studies show that they can increase HDL, the good cholesterol, which favorably affects the cholesterol ratio (the relationship between total and HDL cholesterol). Coconut oil can also boost your energy level, support a healthy immune system, and nourish skin and hair.
Take Internally or Apply Externally for Best Benefits
It's easy to incorporate Barlean's Virgin Coconut Oil into your daily life. As a general guideline, use one tablespoon per 50 pounds of body weight per day, which equates to the amount of MCTs babies get daily from mother's milk. Much smaller amounts will still be beneficial. Great results can be experienced with just one tablespoon per day.
You can use coconut oil as a replacement for butter or oils in cooking and baking, or apply it externally to moisturize the skin and hair.

I use this primarily in cooking. You can heat it to a very high point without the oil breaking down and turning brown like the more volatile olive oils and canola oils do. It doesn't make your food taste like coconuts, maybe very very subtly if at all, so you can use it for most any foods like quesadillas, cooked vegetables, etc. It's much healthier, and better to use if you're watching your weight. I've taken a spoonful of Coconut oil twice a day as part of my keto diet and I still lost weight.
I've used it for hair and skin. It's pretty messy and greasy, but the results are great! It definitely strengthens the feel of my hair and makes my skin feel moisturized.
I've used it for oil pulling. In India they use Sesame Oil to oil pull, but this oil will work too. Plus it's easier to spoon some out when it's in solid form and then it literally melts in your mouth. Just swish it around your mouth for 20 minutes and spit out. It takes about a month for you to notice results, but my teeth have been whiter and healthier since using this coconut oil to oil pull.
Finally, you can use it to make an effective deodorant with arrowroot powder, baking soda, and essential oils. I tried so many "natural" deodorants that just don't work. When I make this homemade deodorant mix, I can go hiking 4 miles and not stink afterward! I was pretty amazed that it works so well. I believe the coconut oil itself has anti-microbial properties. It holds the deodorant mix together very well so you can just put it in a small jar and apply a light coating under your arms.
I started using almond and jojoba oil after seeing a dermatologist for years, to no avail, for brittle nails and eczema, plus severely dry skin. After one month of massaging the oils into my nails, cuticles and hands; my nails are strong and healthy and the eczema is in check. The jojoba oil is my favorite smelling oil and most affordable out of the bunch (at the time of this writing amazon is doing a buy 2 get 1 free - Jojoba Oil for Hair and Skin - 100 Percent Pure Cold Pressed Oil - No Fillers, Dyes or Artificial Ingredients of Any Kind - Made in the USA (3 bottles - 4 oz each).
I feel like a lot of skin-care products advertise a lot of "extra" ingredients so that they can make unrealistic claims, and charge more for what is essentially a water-based "moisturizing" product. I wanted something that was all natural, so I know what's in it, and what the ingredients do/are good for. I did some research on natural oils that are good for the skin, and these three oils were the one's that kept coming up. If you prefer something that is all natural, very affordable, and ultimately effective then I would recommend any and all of these essential oils.
I use VCO in the mix for my hair, shaving cream, soap, hand lotion, face lotion, body lotion, tooth paste as well as I make popcorn and consume it straight out of the jar for its nutrients. Years ago, I was able to get raw, hand pressed coconut oils from fresh coconuts from Mexico produced right here in US but due to popularity of VCOs, many producers have been creative in making money by misleading shoppers as well as many misleading reviews by shoppers certainly has hyped the business of VCO to another level. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is a lie since Extra Virgin applies only to olive oil and infact the VCO market has become so saturated that many producers are removing extra from their labeling and calling it virgin coconut oil, no more extra virgin. In Canada where the best VCOs are produced, it is illegal to even use the term, extra virgin for coconut oil but in US the laws are very relaxed. There is no Extra Virgin coconut oil, only virgin, there is no pure, no #1, no 100%, no premium liquid, or any of those terms used for coconut oils.Read more ›
