“Barnyard Blues” brings together country, blues, early jazz from the jug band era, and original writing. “Twist it Babe” draws on the work of Bo Carter. “Barnyard Blues” is original country. “Motherless Children” comes from the work of Blind Willie Johnson. “Roses & Wine” is original blues/jazz.
“Country Blues” is a great old holler that comes from the work of Doc Boggs and others. “River Ran Dry” is original blues rock. “One Meatball” is a comic song from the early 20th century. “Psycho” is a 1960s song written by Leon Payne, a blind country songwriter from Texas.
“Poor Me” is an old blues tune, which I’ve turned into a blues rock tune. “Sadie Green” is a blues/jazz tune from the Memphis Jug Band.
Dean Rathje: voice, guitars, dobro, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, piano, bass.
“Psycho” is used with permission from Sony/ATV Acuff Rose Music.
