Children of The Noah is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!! I truly delight in reading this book and am so glad there are two more in the series to look forward to. Descriptive, poetic, the characters and each moment are brought to life in a very "Evanesque" and imaginative way, immersing the reader into the world of the story. Adventure, suspense, richly playful and full of aliveness, capturing even the everyday with nuance and wonder... "Lawn mowers whined far away at other houses, and dogs sporadically conversed with one another in ancient languages only very keen scenting animals can speak." And, for those of us who know Evan, there are special and familiar surprises along the way. A must read... Outstanding! HUZZAH HUZZAH HUZZAH!!!

Well, first of all, I approached this book with hesitation as Sci/Fi is not my preferred genre. But, I opened the book, began to read, and read it through in one shot!! That's my Wow factor. I had the opportunity to meet the author, Evan DeCarlo, at a book signing in his hometown, where he generously signed my copy. Again, another WOW!

I work with young adults, and recommended this book. As it was new, and probably in no way familiar with this book, several students did book reports on it. This, of course, required teachers to read the book for student's understanding and content. WOW again.

Unfortunately, I loaned out my copy, which I never do, especially with a signed first edition. But, I relented. When I received the book back, pages were bent, the cover was bent from reading with the cover wrapped and it is in horrible condition. (this is why I do not loan my books out!) But, the good news is that my friend enjoyed the novel, shared it with her 3 teen/pre-teen kids who all loved it! I look at it as a sort of Judy Blume for this generation. Sad factor: my book is destroyed, but atleast it had a happy life!!

I truly loved the book and I cannot wait for the movie. My mother is 92 and a very selective reader...having just finished 50 Shades of Grey and My beloved World. She tells me that there is not enough time left in her life for children's books. I told her that she needs to make an exception.

A must-read if you live in Southern Connecticut. Also a must-read if you enjoy time-travel, robots, or post-apocalyptic novels, or if you ever wanted to have a crush on a literary figure (because you undoubtedly will have one on one of them). DeCarlo writes vividly, painting a particularly interesting picture as his post-human world was created without any foolish actions on the part of humans - we just got caught in a bad storm. Provides a compelling alternate narrative in the face of climate change and other global issues. Great book!

Reading this book was as good a clean shave! DeCarlo's writing style and vivid descriptions combine for a miracle elixer to cure any ailment of boredom. He guides you through the story like a barber giving you a haircut: with care and some good humor. There was nothing I enjoyed more this winter than sitting down with The Barren Earth (accompanied by a delicious meat pie, of course), and I would recommend for anyone to do the same.

Extremely well written, grabs the reader at the first page. I can't wait to see the movie!

This movie will break a few unknown young actors into stardom.....I.e. Breakfast Club
