Editorial Reviews
From the Author
- The ACT is constantly changing and becoming more challenging. This guide will prepare you for the ACT you will actually take, rather than the ACT as it has been in the past. We did this by creating completely original practice passages and questions that anticipate what the ACT will be, rather than simply imitating old ACT questions.
- Many ACT books have vague answers and numerous mistakes. To accompany Barron's extensive editing, I had several hundred students use and critique the book while in development to ensure the highest quality. As large as the book is, there were several hundred questions I wrote that I threw out because they did not meet my standards.
- Most books give you a one-size-fits-all approach to strategy and studying. After working with thousands of students over the years, I know that different students need different strategies and review. This book gives customized strategy recommendations, allows you to focus on your weak areas in test content, and even offers easy, medium and difficult practice passages.
- Most books ignore test anxiety. I know that it is a major barrier to many students, so there is an entire chapter devoted to test-taking mindset and test anxiety.
- Most books have superficial explanations to practice problems. I wrote all the solutions in this book replicating the in-depth explanations I would give to a student in a tutoring session. Not only do the explanations show you how to arrive at the correct answer, but they show why the other answers are incorrect.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2016This is a great study guide!! I am an ACT prep coach. This is the best study guide on the market for students who need an extensive review in math in order to raise scores. The English review and exercises are also quite good. This also was one of the first texts to offer a comparative passage practice in the reading comprehension review. The science prep is weak, but...The practice tests are excellent. If your students scores well on those, they will do well on the actual ACT.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2015Great , great, great book to prepare for the ACT. With taking the three test for each subject it really gets you ready for taking the ACT. Full of great tips to increase test speed.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2015This is the worst practice book I've ever used. The questions and explanations are confusing and the answers are unsatisfying. I've taken the ACT twice and scored a 33, but this book is just impossible. Hasn't helped in the slightest. Going in with no preparation is better than this. If it were possible to give it no stars, I would. Look for any other book than this.
