The author plays it safe by saying the book is a "brush-up text", implying you would need an additional textbook. My experience shows you don't! I get full scores on official AP Statistics tests and this book is the only one I used.
It surprised me how few typos I found in such an exstensive text. The author's explanations are clear and illustated with several solved examples per concept. The text is interspersed with very relevant tips on test taking strategies, conceptual misunderstandings and, most impportantly, usage of graphical calculators for statistics like TI-83 and TI-84. I've found out during practice tests that knowing the specifics of your calculator is as important as knowing statistics and the book helped with both.
Most students should not waste the diagnostic test in the begining and do it at the end, together with the 4 practice tests. The end of each chapter contains plenty of exercises in the oficial exam style, with clear answers that fine-tune and deepen the conceptual understanding. The text will train you in writing proper explanations when solving the free-response questions. Omitting explanations in those can undermine your score, since they are human-graded on the exam.
I rarely give a book full score but this one is an example of a textbook excellency. The author did a remarkable job in both theoretical explanations and problem solving training. I dont think one should bother with any other book in AP Statistics. If you work with the book, do the exercises, compare the solutions and consult with a tutor about the unclear points, the success is inevitable.
