We tied a remote food drop up in a tree but wind brought it down, the bag of meats and other foods was on the ground for 2 days in a forest. We had the food in double-layers of these odor bags though - and no animals touched it! Great bags.

We liked these very much. Got the assorted pack which comes with two large and three medium bags. We put one large in the bear bag as the main container that everything else goes into, and the smellier foods were in medium bags inside that one (so essentially double bagged the smelly things). Took prosciutto, smelly sausage, eggs, chocolate, trail mix, etc. to bear country and had no smell whatsoever outside the bags.

One day I was making prosciutto snacks and there were 20 yellow jacket bees hovering around me, it was scarey, as soon as I put the snacks in the bag they left the area!

We had our day snacks and sandwiches and sunscreen in one of the medium bags as well, in the outside pocket of the backpacks.

A couple of notes: we got a small hole in the day snacks bag, so need to watch out for things that have sharp corners. Also the weight is more that I would have wanted but it makes them more sturdy.

I bought these to store food and other attractants in while hiking in bear country. To make sure they worked I took some garlic, onions, wet coffee grounds, some rotten fruit, a chunk of deodorant, and an ounce or so of cologne and tossed it all into one of the bags. I then left it next to a heating vent for a couple of days. I never smelled a thing, absolutely amazing. Because when I opened it up to throw it all away, I definitely smelled it.

The only downside is that these bags come with clips that are super easy to lose. The clips are used to hold the top of the bag which you've rolled up closed by clamping down on either side, I wish they either came with more spares or had replacement clips available for purchase. Other than that they work as advertised and are about as simple as a product can be.

These bags are durable and they really work as advertised. I tested these in my back yard with one of the BaseCamp bags and a regular zip lock bag, put the same food items in each bag, placed them on the ground about 5 feet apart and left them overnight. In the morning, the zip lock bag had been drug across the yard and ripped apart, but the BaseCamp bag was completely untouched. Great product.

Went hiking up in the Rockies and while I had a bear bag it wasn't scent proof. I used these bags (there are 5) as an inside liner to keep all of nature from smelling my food. I didn't have any wildlife mess with my food or trash but to make sure they really worked I ran another test. Once hope I put a bunch of old fruit and meat in a bag and sealed it up then left it sit outside for 3 days. No animals touched it and when holding it up to my face I couldn't smell anything. While I know animals have a better sense of smell I consider it a success due to the fact nothing even touched the bag.

The best compliment I can pay it is, "It works!" I've hung it from trees, had it on the ground near my tent and no critters or tears. It easily opens and closes with the provided clip. I was inspired to get some kind of system after a rat or mongoose ate its way through a plastic bag with my food in it while it was in my tent's vestibule. I'm glad I found this. Like I said, so far no critters have come for midnight snacks.

The bear are out of hibernation for 2-3 weeks. I have a jar of coffee and a sealed drinking container filled with dried oatmeal, raisins, dried milk in one of the Base Camp bags. So far, no bears around camp.

I bought these bags four months ago. They are very effective. They aren't perfect, but they are about as good as you'd expect. I was using them to store something very smelly. I had to open and close the bags nearly every day since I've been using them. They hold up very well. I've only used two so far. That being said, I use two at a time. After about a week of using on bag I could notice a slight odor coming from the top of the bag. I began double bagging and this worked exceptionally well. After the four months I've had them they are still nearly perfectly odorless when double bagged. If you sniff the bag after this time you can smell something inside if it is very smelly, but if you aren't putting your nose close to it, it doesn't linger or permeate. Basically, if you're standing close to it in a room, you won't smell it.

I think that I will need to start using two more bags soon, but I don't think that they were designed to use them as I have been or as much as I have. If you are trying to odor proof something, this is definitely something that you should consider incorporating into your system. I don't need them to be so large, but they are so that's nice if you're stowing something with volume.
