"...Basically Frightened is the book you must pick up for a fresh, intelligent and intriguing take on post-apocalyptic life.
Trust me, its eclectic mix of action, observation and humor will keep you hooked till the very last word. Looking forward to the sequel...really hoping there will be one!"

"Basically Frightened by Vasily Pugh is a brilliant book! I haven't read a post-apocalyptic book this good since along time." Heena Rathore, 'The Reading Bud'
"...BasicallyFrightened managed to do the only thing that will keep my interest inan apocalypse scenario, and that gives me a really great main character. Our protagonist whom I will call Practical (since we arenever given a real name and Practical suits him), is in the middle ofeverything, class, age, political opinions, and he talks as such. Hehas a habit of pompously musing at inopportune times, laughing at hisown little references and putting roman numerals instead of chapter titles for our benefit - that's the kind of guy we're dealing with. Practical moves along in his own little bubble of theapocalypse until two things persuade him he must move. The first isan attack upon his person when he's out searching for supplieswhich, I might add, he always leaves an 'IOU' for at the variousshops he's looting, his own determined way of persuading himselfthe apocalypse in temporary. The second is the fact he's noticed hehas started to talk to himself, and he's worried this is the firstsign of a descent into madness and wearing pants on his head."
Oh my! This book really came as a surprise!
The writing style isso...realistic! At first, I did not even realize that what I was reading was actually a part of the book. the first chapter is has so many details described in a very realistic manner. Only after he mentioned the Alpha Men I started thinking "ok, so this actually the beginning of the book, not a message or an introduction".
With this book, the author brings something new on the market: an unusual plot, realistic description and unique writing style. Great job!
I recommend the book and I look forward for the next one.
