The biggest short coming of this book is it goes on and on about the theory and definitions of different things but there are only a couple of case studies in the whole book to illustrate real world use cases of blockchain technology. The two case studies that are presented skew heavily towards cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum Classic rather than blockchain companies that have actually gotten mainstream use in spaces like food safety or logistics.
If you are optimizing for value and just trying to understand how blockchain works at a high level at the lowest price, buy this book. If you are willing to pay a couple more dollars though, I think the best blockchain book I've read so far has been Blockchain Bubble or Revolution. It covers largely the same content as this book however features way more examples and case studies and includes forward looking analyses in more engaging prose.
As mentioned on the back cover, this book is a crash course in money, cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings (ICO) and enterprise blockchains. As the one responsible for Cash and CBDC strategy at R3, not surprisingly, Antony teaches us everything we have to know from historical facts, physical and digital money, through a smooth introduction to cryptography (probably the most understandable explanation about the mechanics of Proof-of-Work), the emergence of cryptocurrencies and digital tokens to the latest thinking about the technology adoption by enterprises. By and large a delightful read for anyone who wants to understand everything about bitcoins and blockchains.

Thank you for such a great book and actually getting me excited about the subject!
Dislike: Doesn't really give a step by step to buy / sell crypto but that info is available online and each exchange has its own way of doing it.
I would recommend this book to anyone. Even if you already own crypto, most people don't really have a good idea of how it works. Great book!

I learnt a lot about the technology but also the political and social context which is equally as important.
Enjoyable read and some great charts and diagrams that help with the financial context and money flows ... Five starts highly recommended and great knowledge transfer in a convenient format !

The level of detail is enough to give you a basic but solid understanding without drowning you in jargon or going so far on a tangent that you lose sight of the main subject.
