This didn't have a smell that I was expecting, but does smell like the plant. I guess I was expecting it to smell more like the dried herb (definitely not the company's responsibility.) It actually has a slight licorice note to it. It wasn't displeasing at all, but I never noticed a licorice smell to basil before so after I got the oil I found a plant to see if it smelled similar. It was almost exact. The oil of course being a little stronger. Since it didn't have the smell I expected I had to find a different use and blend for it. I was playing around one day and thought, hey I wonder if this smells good with birch and orange. I put the mix in my unscented lotion and it smelled so familiar and I couldn't figure out why the smell was making me so thirsty. I sat and smelled it for a minute and figured it out! It smelled just like root beer to me! I'm thinking of getting some vanilla oil and adding a little to see if it smells like a root beer float. When I do run out I plan on getting more.

Originally I had posted a bad review for this Basil, because when it arrived it smelled something horrible. Healing Solutions ended up calling me to tell me it sounded like I "got a bad batch" and sent me out a new one free of charge. This one smells MUCH better. It actually smells like Basil, it is potent, and it is a great oil. I am really happy they reached out to me...it shows how much they care for their customers. This is a scent that really promotes relaxation and healing. Great for anxiety, stress, or just unwinding.

Purchased this to help with lactation. When used topically on the skin I found it to really help with increasing my supply. I mixed it with almond oil as a bit of a carrier oil. I saw great results with this product. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the smell is so strong. You would think it would smell like typical basil used in food, it does not, it smells much more like licorice. However, after using it for a few weeks I got over the smell and appreciated the results.

I absolutely LOVE basil and have several bushes on my back yard. Decided to try essential oil and you know what? Its perfact substitute for mint or eucaliptus when you make homemade cosmetics. I made deodorant - antiperspirant with basil oil + vanila and the smell takes you to the 7th heaven. Thus this basil oil is very concentrated, so do not use much, just several drops. It reminds me anise smell a bit.

they make a really good product. not the best but really good. some of their oils dont have a good shelf life as compared to other makers and their labels easily rub off the bottle where i dont have this problem with other makers.
Overall, they make really good essential oil products for not being truly "organic"
