Editorial Reviews

"Bass Players To Know is a fun and deeply informative read for anyone who wants to go beyond the obvious mainstream influences on the instrument and learn about some truly unique voices on the bass. By the time you're done, you feel like you really get why these players matter - in large part because of Ryan's carefully crafted 'BPTK' format, consistent throughout the book, which really makes the information stick. Highly recommended!"
--Bryan Beller (The Aristocrats, Joe Satriani, Dethklok)

"This book is wonderful. Ryan Madora struck a perfect balance between providing biographical information on these bass players and providing insight into their musical contributions. There's just enough theory to make it interesting to bass players who understand theory, and not too much to overwhelm those who don't."
--Gerald Veasley (Solo Artist, Educator, Grover Washington, Jr.)

"Bass Players to Know is a fantastic addition to the pantheon of bass books in the world. Ryan Madora is both professional bassist and overall purveyor of bass knowledge which is clearly shown with passion in her writing and musicianship. Our industry is altogether better with her in it and Bass Players to Know shows us just that!"
--Mike Lull (Owner and Luthier, Mike Lull Custom Guitars)

About the Author

Ryan Madora is a Nashville-based writer, educator, and bass player. A native of Philadelphia and graduate of New York University, she has been a writer for the online bass publication No Treble since 2011. Her touring credits include guitar virtuoso Robben Ford and country music icon Bobby Bones. In addition to backing up artists like Hanson, Carrie Underwood, and Garth Brooks, she has appeared on three seasons of the television show, "Nashville." Bringing eclecticism, groove, and musical intention to every gig, she is frequently called upon in the studio and has produced records for her instrumental trio, The Interludes. An educator at heart, she teaches clinics, private lessons, and serves as a faculty member at Musician's Institute Guitar Craft Academy. In her free time, she tends to her garden, expands her culinary repertoire, and takes epic walks with her husband.
