Sometimes I need to move full kegs around, so I wanted a steel-toed boot. The toe is indeed steel (I discovered a magnet stuck to it). However the boot itself is very light.
I am on my feet for hours, and I find this to be very comfortable.
My custom orthotics fit in this boot. You may want to get your own inserts to add padding or arch support.
The side zipper makes it very easy to get in and out. The zipper seems very tough and I think it will last. There is also a velcro tab that goes over the top of the zipper to keep it from unzipping. The zipper is inconspicuous, so it just looks like a regular lace up combat boot.
When I'm in a hurry to get out of the house, or when I come home wiped out at 3am, the zipper makes this boot a dream to get on and off.
The boot is good looking. Sometimes I tuck my pant cuffs in, for a more military look, and it's bad-ass. When I have my pants over the boot, the exposed part of the boot is simple and unimposing.
The boot is very flexible. At the end of the night we all work together to clean the bar. This involves crouching to roll up carpets and mats; the padded ankles are comfortable and flexible. Also, sometimes I will want to dance a bit when the band is cooking, and for steel-toed boots these are damn danceable.
I have not worn them in the cold yet, but they have Thinsulate. We shall see.
I decided to try these boots and I'm not very impressed. The soles feel hard and "plastic-like"; they almost seem to click like hard-soles shoes as I walk across concrete or tile. They also don't seem as comfortable to me - I often had to wear my 925s for 20-24 hours straight when I was in the Navy... these are hard and unforgiving after 2-3 hours.
I like the steel-toe protection and the side zipper, but I'll probably be shopping other brands or types for my next pair of safety boots.
If you're new to the boot world, these are for you but be careful the first time you try and drive your car. The ankles don't flex a lot so hitting the gas pedal with any degree of skill can be difficult for a while.
The only thing I would really complain about is the weight. I feel like they're a bit heavy, but I guess it means I'm burning extra calories while on duty, right?
I will buy them again!
My "however" in the title - These are NOT listed as being 3M Thinsulate lined in the description, but they did show up as such. I was NOT looking for a pair of insulated boots. For the price that you pay on Amazon, I'm not going to make a big deal about it and will probably transition these to my winter use boots (as I live where it regularly is below freezing in the winter months). A better/clearer product description would be nice.
These boots take abuse and keep going. I think they are worth every penny and this is the first brand that he hasn't had to replace every 6 mont

Work requires lace up boots, but I prefer slip ons. This is a great compromise. These are light and more comfortable than the redwings that I was wearing.Published 1 month ago by Brandon M. Morgan
