Disclaimer: My hair is dark, thick, extremely long, and wavy with oily roots and dry ends. So please keep in mind the results may not be the same for you if your hair is different.
Batiste dry shampoo Original: Leaves white residue, need to brush off thoroughly before barely getting rid of the matte, gray residue. Doesn’t clean extremely well and thickens the hair due to the powdery deposit that’s hard to remove. Smells like nondescript citrus, unisex fragrance, similar to generic hand soap.
Batiste dry shampoo Cherry: Leaves white residue, need to brush off thoroughly before barely getting rid of the matte, gray residue. Doesn’t clean extremely well and thickens the hair due to the powdery deposit that’s hard to remove. Smells like red fruits but somewhat synthetic. I wouldn’t call this a juicy fruity smell that you sometimes get from good shampoos. The fragrance is on the feminine side.
Garnier Volume Extend dry shampoo: Leaves white residue but goes away as you massage you scalp clean. It doesn’t clean well, doesn’t volumize, and only serves to deodorize the hair. Smells exactly like most Garnier Fructis products; like tropical fruits & citrus. Lovely & refreshing.
Herbal Essences Color Me Happy dry shampoo: Absorbs the oil well as long as you dump a fair amount of the product into your hair.Read more ›
How I Use This Product:
After I have washed and blow-dried my hair, I part my hair in several sections and spray the dry shampoo along the hairline but not the part itself. Then I comb the product through my hair and style with hairspray or a smoothing serum. When first applied, the dry shampoo will appear to be a grayish color, but after you brush it through your hair, the grey will fade and your left with a darker, fuller hair line. This look will last all day, and sometimes into the next day, to cover up the thinning spots.
This product is fantastic because you cannot even tell I have thinning hair! I have always been self-conscience about my hair and this product has really boosted my confidence. I cannot live without this product. It also has a fragrance added to the shampoo, it’s not my favorite but it does smell nice. Sometimes I can also find this on the shelves at my local supermarket on sale.
This product does leave residue. If you like touching your hair, you will probably get some on your fingertips or under your nails. Do you have white sheets? You might find some dark speckles on your pillowcase. Not a big deal but something to keep in mind.Read more ›
Tip for those trying it for the first time - don't put the nozzle right at your hair or you'll get a ton of white product that will be hard to brush away and will leave you looking like you have grey hair. Spray it from slightly farther away and do small amounts at a time (you can always add more but you can't easily remove too much). Let it sit for ~10 seconds and use a comb to brush it into the hair at your scalp and then into the length of your hair.
I prefer to do my hair in sections. I'll flip all my hair to one side and spray underneath and work it in. Then I'll flip over another section, work it in, and continue on. I usually do 4 sections, then once on the underside of the back. I always make sure to, at the end, brush my hair down over my face to work it into the bangs (so you don't get that one greasy-looking piece of hair that you have to tuck behind your ear).
