Batman 25th Anniversary (BD) (Diamond Luxe Case)
Tim Burton directs; Michael Keaton stars as Batman; and Jack Nicholson stars as his arch foe, The Joker, in the first of the blockbuster Batman series of features. As the Dark Knight, defender of law and order in Gotham City, Batman treads the shadow zone between right and wrong, fighting with only his skill in martial arts and his keenly honed mind to defend the innocent and to purge the memory of his parents' brutal murder--always keeping his true identity as millionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne a closely guarded secret.]]>

P.S. - My Steelbook came damaged with the disc loose in the case. I returned it and got a replacement but it was damaged the same way and, again, the disc was loose in the case.
Started watching on my computer. Then went to neighbors (who also has Prime) and hooked up to his TV.
Nice and clear, plays perfect. I like every Batman movie going back to the original TV show with Adam West (Robin too of course, Alfred, the Aunt) and the old original comics. Brings me back to childhood, great times and also in this modern world and beyond!
My cousins and I would crawl under the Brookfield, MA, Kimball street drain pipe playing secret agent and Batman. Could never get the courage to crawl through the spider, snake ridden pipe at night.
Faked out cousin Mike; he got mad and kicked his basketball into the pipe right before sundown. Then during the nighttime our parents found out and asked us to try to find it. I acted brave and said I will go out into the night crawl through the pipe. I chickened out. Went back onto the house and lied; said I went all the way threw the pipe in the dark and found nothing.
Early next morning got up before everyone else. Ran outside and crawled through the pipe in morning light, pushed the basketball through to the end and into the brook. Then later when everyone was up, I let them think Mike kicked the ball so hard that it went right through the pipe.
I always think of Mike, leader of the secret agent club, us playing, making believe we are Batman, Robin and Chief O'Hara, Gordon outside on adventures at night. Seeking experiences that are scary! Mike is stronger than I in many ways. Most men have that intense 'courage', an instinct, spiritual part built in (earned). Maybe they are here on earth to make it even stronger to be used for a new mission!
Ladies too. Love the CatWoman!
Sorry for lying Mike!
Jack Nicholson is a great Joker, silly and scary at the same time (I loved Heath Ledger's Joker, too, but it's a very different take.) He seems to exist within a zone of madness, where the Bat-plane can fire tons of bullets and missiles at him and miss, but he can pull a three foot-long pistol out of his clown pants and bring the plane down with one shot.
The Prince music works perfectly. The effects are dated, and the romantic dialog is pretty silly. Kim Basinger's Vicki Vale is a sexy cartoon. "Are we gonna try to love each other?" Still, Tim Burton's Batman is one of my favorite superhero movies to watch. Not a great film, but a fun movie.
(No true spoilers ahead if you haven't seen the movie yet)
With that being said...this Batman picks up with the viewer assuming you know how he became the Caped Crusader. You have no idea how he got his "toys" nor why he does what he does. Everything is assumed. I knew going in some of this but would have been nice to know the how & why of things. I always wondered that in the Batman tv series too.
Alfred in this series had his own style too which I liked quite a bit. He's an unsung hero, just doing the task put before him.
Personally the Batmobile in this movie is probably my favorite.
In closing watch this movie with an open mind and understand it's a different Batman than any other. This goes for B2, B3, B4 too. Just like there are different writers & different artists for the Batman comic book series, this is a different writer and director. Once you get passed that I think you'll enjoy it more.
