To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I bought this for my nephew. He received an EMPTY case! This is the second time I've had to purchase this game.

This game is such a masterpiece and has everything a Batman fan could ever want in a Batman game! Came in very great condition! I first got this game in 2015 and was so much fun to play for the first time! And still is to this day its still absolutey addicting to play! This game truly makes you feel like Batman and has you fighting The Joker's thugs using a variety of moves you can use yourself! Also, this game has a very intresting and errie atmosphere to explore and that you will sometimes set up crime scene investigations in order to track someone down with trails that Batman finds using his detective mode! This game also has a cool gameplay feature called Predator, which has you picking off a room full of armed thugs one by one! And makes you drive fear into thugs! This game's characters, mainly the Joker and Batman are truly likable and intresting in thier own way! What makes them even more likable is that they are voiced by none other than Mark Hamill (as The Joker) and Kevin Conroy (as Batman). (The same actors as Batman and Joker from the Animated Series!) And even if you don't read the comics, this game is still such an amzing game for any Batman fan and holds up very well for a 12 year old game!

There have been many superhero video games, such as batman begins, super man 64, batman shadow of vengence. And I am glad to say this one beats them all. Arkam asylum has you playing as the dark knight voiced by the talented Kevin conroy against the joker voiced by the magnificent Mark Hamill but that's not all in the asylum he fights a huge roster of villains including bane, quinn, killer croc and scarecrow. But, don't worry about the game play folks because it is beautiful batman can beat up his opponents hand to hand or you can stealthily take them down, he also comes with a lot of interesting gadgets that will make your adventure unique. This game has a lot of replay elements you can go throughout the asylum and get riddler trophies and in the main menu you can play challenge maps. The challenge maps has 2 modes fighting where it's a hand to hand battle in a small space where your skill in fighting is what keeps you alive and predator where you use your head to take down your enemies in a more open space using stealth, also in the PS3 version in the challenge maps you can play as the flipping joker. The story is great and the graphics hold up to this day a must have for any fan of batman.

I like Batman, but I am far from a big fan. With that being said, this is one of the best games I have played. The fact that it is in 3D makes it even better. The game combines many things that are familiar elements from other games. Some levels have a scary sensation like F.E.A.R offers. The fighting is similar to God of War. Stealth movement is like Splinter Cell. There are plenty of areas to explore. The graphics and voice work are amazing. But, let's get down to the basics:
Pros: Has a well organized upgrade system, easy to learn controls and Batman moves and reacts like a superhero should. You get to use a lot of Batman's gadgets which is cool.
Cons: In some levels, you will have to go back and forth a few times to accomplish a task. The Boss battles are pretty close to being the same (a batarang to the head and then pummel them).
Graphics: Great 5 of 5
Sound: Great 5 of 5
Controls: Good 4 of 5 (pretty smooth, but not perfect)
Story: Moderate 3 of 5 (good but not captivating unless you are a Batman fan)
I would still give this game overall a 5 of 5, because it was a lot of fun and the 3D effect made it so much cooler. It is probably the best Comic Book game out there. I played it non stop until I beat it once and then started all over again. I would definitely recommend this game and I can not wait for the sequel.

I enjoyed this game. Batman is very cool. He has a lot of gadgets to use.
First of all, Batman has the capability to go places other ground-pounders have trouble to get to. This is important since many areas of Arkham Asylum are locked. I spent hours trying to get to the next area. This was a little boring, but it is within the style of Batman.
Combat occurs every so often. In my opnion, combat is a little scarce since most of the time Batman is in Detective mode and trying to get to a locked area or solve a puzzle. Combat is fun, however. Batman only has one basic move, the 'square' button, but with enough combos in a row he can unleash one of two special moves. One is automatic takedown, which I was not able to pull off, and the other is throw a henchman, which I did twice. He also has an unlocked move to string up a henchman below a gargoyle. I suggest purchasing of this move early as it helps in some situations and is otherwise rare to use; I was able to use it once. Batman also has armor upgrades and upgrades to his many gadgets.
This is not Captain America - Batman's Batarang ranged attack is only good enough to knock down opponents, not take them out. Still, the Batarang has its uses. I won't spoil the other gadgets since they unlock throughout the game.
Detective mode is great. It allows Batman to see opponents through walls. This is very useful. Batman will also track key opponents and kidnapped victums with Detective mode. It also helps him move through hard to get through areas. Unfortunately, when in Detective mode, you can't see the very nice high quality graphics.
The boss fights are very good, and there are a goodly number of Batman Villians to take on. Other than bosses, there are only a few different opponents, each needing to be handled differently. Henchmen, Armed Henchmen, Henchmen with stun batons, Henchmen with knives, and Snipers and Lunatics make up the various non-boss opponents. There are also deformed henchmen called Titans, and these are mini-bosses.
Batman: Arkham Asylum is a high quality game, with great moments and good video and combat fun.

A must-have!

I was never a fan of batman. He always seemed to dark, to cheesy, and to far-fetched. Until now. This game is an experience letting you step into his suit and question even his own sanity. This series however, absolutely must be played in order, so don't try skipping to "Arkham City" or the upcoming "Arkham World". Just Pick it up (GOTY Editions are a must-buy by-the-way, as they have extra content, especially with Arkham City I have heard) and give it a try, and watch the hidden DC obsessive come out in what is truly the Super-Hero experience of all games.
