I gave it a chance simply because of the opening roster of guest stars like Green Arrow, Blue Beetle, and Kite Man. I was intrigued to see how these guys would be played. After the first few episodes I began to realise that this show is not about Batman, it's one giant brilliant homeage to all of the unknown and (criminaly) unloved characters of the DC Universe. The writing is genius it takes some of the most rediculous characters and concepts and turns them into amazing attention grabbing plots and twists that make you more then eager to watch the next episode.
The use of the opening Teaser before each episode to showcase an upcoming villain or hero (or both) is fantastic, it gets you interested to keep watching the show in hopes that the characters will come back later. (Best surprise for me being The Question showing up in season 1 part 2).
As a show Brave and the Bold is brilliant and the DVD is worth it for the episodes alone. My only dissapointment in this purchase is there's absolutely no special features. I would love to have seen some cast and crew interviews thrown in just to have some insight into why certain decisions were made and what made them pick each character for what reason.
I'm ok with a split season, as quite honestly the set felt like a full season anyway. It's the lack of any kind of extras at all that was dissapointing. Still for 15 bucks it's definately worth it.
I get the complaints about those who don't know about 50's Batman, but I found it quite a hoot (yes, hoot) and at times surprisingly adult and touching. The creators did a great job of making it for kids, but putting in those adult layers.
This is easily my favorite Aquaman of all time.
Some of the high points of this show are brilliant voice acting, very high production values, and nice clean animation. It is also full of subtle details and 'inside jokes' that are sure to please Batman fans with knowledge of the character beyond Nolan's movies. I recommend this series to adults that still enjoy animation, light hearted fun, and of course, the super hero genre. What I hate though, is the studio not releasing a box set yet! This series came out back in 2008! stop milking it WB.
