For whatever reason, Mattel is keeping their final figure in the Dark Knight Rises Movie Master line under tight distribution, making it nearly impossible to find on most chain retailer's shelves. Every now and then Ra's al Ghul will be spotted in the under twenty dollar range here on Amazon, but unfortunately, scalpers have beaten most of us to the punch, hence the ridiculous prices you're likely to find here on any given day. I won't get into the politics of whether or not this is "fair," but as someone who thinks even the average retail price point of about $17 is still a bit much for what you actually get, I'm happy I lucked out on a total fluke and snagged him up when I did.

As with anything there are pros and cons to this figure, based on Liam Neeson's character in Christopher Nolan's Batman films. Starting with the face, it's a fair enough representation of Neeson, though perhaps a bit more so in profile than looking straight on. His brown hair, including his goatee, is sprinkled with bits of gray for a realistic "salt and pepper" look which I thought was a nice detail. My only complaint is that his lips are bit full and his mouth is hanging in an awkward half-open position that makes him look permanently dumbfounded, which is about as PC as I can get here if you catch my drift, lol. Still, it was a welcome surprise to have this figure exist at all with a brand new head sculpt seven years after his initial appearance onscreen. Body-wise he has many points of articulation and is very flexible, but if you've been following this Movie Masters line at all then you already know how Mattel loves to re-use parts, so this suit and tie look is one we've seen many times before.

This figure comes with the LED battery compartment piece. It has the instructions to assemble the bat signal. Once you get the bat signal assembled, put in 3 AAA batteries, press a little black button under the bat signal barrel, and then switch the light on on the back, and the bat signal projects a couple of feet. The extra button is very important and prevents the LED from being on for too long, saving life of your batteries. There is just a "click" picture on the instructions, so I figured I would explain it here in case people were having trouble figuring out how to get it to work.

As for the figure, this is highly detailed and articulated and comes with a little mask piece that goes around his face. I like the figure a lot. It is 5.875" tall. He has a jacket that comes off, and tie. He has 5 ranges of motion on each arm and each leg. He sits down fully at 90 degrees. His head turns to the side and up and down slightly. His waist turns and he has an ab joint that goes back and forth. He has fighter gloves on his hands that are slightly opened so you can put an accessory weapon in there, but the package doesn't come with any weapons for him. I guess you need to find those separately.

No batteries are inside this package. You need to buy them separately, 3 AAA. But the LED is part of the piece that comes with him.

O.K.m# 1 reason this guy goes for so much is because he was a "secret" character that wasn't revealed to be in the movie, so he was not on store shelves before TDKR came out.he also comes with an important piece of the Bats signal- the battery case. So I payed the scalper price to complete my Batsignal and complete my collection. His likeness to his character is dead-on. The good news is I can now play "Taken", Schindlers List or any other Liam Neeson film! It does look just like him

Cool figure. Can't believe I finally found it at a good price on Amazon. A rare treat having an action figure made out of the likeness of Liam Neeson. Interesting that it took the people of Movie Masters to use this movie to bring him in. But he did have a nice cameo in The Dark Knight Rises. Still a part of me prefers the brought in Crane in his face. But some actors are sensitive to being an action figure. Perhaps Cillian Murphy only preferred his character as an action figure as long as he was masked. Good thing Liam Neeson was up for this.

Decent enough likeness for a mass market figure, but the body reuse is kind of boring. And when I said mass market, I meant "freaking impossible to find." Mattel is always their own worst enemy with desired figures...

Nice addition to my batman collection, but can someone tell me why they keep calling him Ra's Al Ghul - he clearly states in the first batman movie (Christian Bale's edition of course). He is pretty much just a member and spokesman for Ra's Al Ghul in the cell with Bruce Wayne towards the beginning.

Holy smokes! Liam Neeson has really cemented his role as the go to guy whe you need someone wise to train or lead you ever since starring in Star wars: Episode 1: The guiding voice of your father in Fallout 3, Aslan the Lion in the Chronicles of Narnia, Zeus in Clash of the Titans, John "Hannibal" Smith in the A-Team, and as Henri Ducard/ Ra's al Ghul in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.

For the Dark Knight Rises, Mattel released 6 regular figures, each with a piece of a buildable Batsigal. Ra's here was the last figure released, was kept secret for quite sometime, and seems to be the hardest to find. It's good to finally have him, however, as his influence in Batman Begins and in the trilogy as a whole is vitally important. While this figure looks like Ra's as he appears in a vision in The Dark Knight Rises, his gas mask accessory is clearly from the finale of Batman Begins. Still, he doesn't look too different, so use him however you like. Here's a brief look at Ra's al Ghul:

The Facts:
Articulation: Ball jointed neck, mid torso hinge, pin/post shoulders, swivel biceps, hinged elbows, swivel wrists, twist waist, upper thigh swivels, swivel/hinge thighs, hinged knees, hinged ankles.
Accessories: Gas mask, bat signal battery unit and bulb.

The Positives:

*This is adecent likeness of Liam Neeson as Ra's al Ghul. I think Neeson has a somewhat difficult to capture portrait and Mattel did a decent job. It looks just a bit caricatured, but fits in well with the rest of the line.

*I believe that Ra's is the only one of the 6 regular DKR Movie Masters to come with a usable accessory. Ra's comes with his gas mask from Batman Begins which fits well over his face. Be careful you don't break the strap, though.
