Reuniting the incredible duo of Scott Synder & Greg Capullo, we are gifted with a haunting tale of the end to their interpretation of this iconic character established throughout their New 52 Batman run.
With Zero Year, they showed us the beginning of their Batman.
With Last Knight on Earth, they show us the end of their Batman.
And my God, this first issue is truly in a league of it's own. The incredible writing paired with the vibrant yet grim art is a masterpiece to behold. This issue focuses on uncovering what lead the DC universe to end up in the post-apocalyptic state it is shown in, along with setting up the primary mystery that Batman will need to solve in order to save this forsaken world.
The art in this book alone is worth it's asking price, but with writing like this? This is a must buy for any Batman fan out there, ESPECIALLY if you were a huge fan of their run on Batman. Worth every penny and then some.

It came in an appropriate sized cardboard with bubble wrap protecting the book. The book its self was also protected by a sleeve (sorry I don't know if that is what it's called) with a thin white cardboard on the back to maintain the figure. This was fantastic, with out spoiling the book the art is beautiful especially with its opening pages. The pacing is consistent, and the plot doesn't feel overbearing. For me it hits all the right notes from this dynamic duo.Last Knight on Earth, even though the context is very drastic, feels very self contained allowing time to focus on both Batman and his journey. The story is reliant on elements from the New 52 batman run and the current Justice League run. That being said if you roll with the information given in the story it shouldn't be a problem. As far as first issues go I am extremely excited parts 2 and 3.

I didn’t really know what this book (series) was going to be like or about, and initially I found it to be pretty intriguing. But it’s hard to follow. I found myself confused on several occasions because of some very hard transitions without any real explanation. On top of that, details are added in after-the-fact in a very nonchalant way, even though they are important to the storyline. I’m interested to see where this storyline goes, but I’m not sure I want to labor through it.

This is as an original story concept as I have seen in many years.Comic book storytelling has become more of a rehashing than imagination driven but this is a pleasant surprise and the artwork matches it superbly

Outstanding!!!!!! This is the start of an epic batman story, I'm a sucker for Greg capullo's art and Snyder's story telling. Can't wait for book two and three to be finished. You owe it to yourself to buy this book. Also this a more of a tiny graphic novel in format, its not like a traditional comic book issue.

Fascinating artwork and some interesting directions. I want to see more of where this narrative is headed.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this but Snyder and Capullo deliver as they always do. I cannot wait to see what happens next. New 52 Batman is my favorite Batman and I'm so eager to see the end of his saga.

Interesting non canon story, and characteristically brilliant art by Gregg Capullo.
