"It also distills how the writer Scott Snyder has reinvented Batman in the past two years, deepening and humanizing the Dark Knight's myth -- in the making since 1939 -- like no one since Frank Miller in the 1980s."--The New York Times
"Greg Capullo's masterful art continues to bring Snyder's words to life."--Craveonline
"One of the best Batman runs in the history of the character."--IGN
"With this volume, anticipation for DC's The New 52 reboot of their superhero universe, should be firmly replaced with a deep and abiding appreciation for what Snyder, Capullo, and Glapion have done with Gotham's caped crusader... This is a clever and sophisticated Batman--with a dark, edgy, and thought-provoking narrative ably abetted by Capullo's pulpish, detailed art. Readers will find it hard to put down." --Publisher's Weekly

Compare any scene side by side with the preview on Amazon of the original TPB or if you have the original trade paperback like me and you will see any black ink and grey's bleed together in this set.
The low quality "green" paper is not good with any dark ink. The brighter scenes (rare in Batman) are a bit easier on this affect. This low quality paper is similar to old print from the old comic days and that is why so many complimentary colors were used, I hear, so the ink and images would not bleed together.
I'm in the middle of re-reading the material, so if I find anything of interest (outside of the fantastic material) I'll definitely be updating this review.
The packaging itself is somewhat disappointing. Not the artwork, but the quality. I've only had it for a few days, but the paper that is covering the cardboard is starting to become unglued on the bottom. I can easily fix, but there must have been a better way to do this. I'll re-glue and see how that and the rest of it hold up over time.
Also, DC, if you are reading this, PLEASE announce/release the second box set asap. Can't wait for my kids to read Zero Year, possibly my favorite arc during Scott's run.
