other then not having the textured body, this think is great, i use big lenses like my 70-300mm nikkor with a 2x teleconvertor, and filter at the end and a lens hood when i am shooting outdoors (80%) of the time, and that is alot of weight, the grip and batteries definetly add some weight to balance that out and gives me alot more holding space, ( i really have big hands) so it's worth it, the vertical shutter works, but it's not something i see myself using alot, as im not used to it, but this is a great product and i got it for a great price and has really made a difference.

Great addition to a digital SLR camera

Am very happy with this product so far. Allows you triple the battery power, as it can hold two camera batteries, plus four double-A batteries, so it will take a long time to burn through all of that battery power. Very convenient if you're out for a day of shooting and don't have a way or the desire to be recharging batteries the whole time! Great product, also makes your digital SLR camera taller so it is easier to hold and grip and makes the camera feel more stable overall. Plus I think it just gives the camera a great, stately look! Great product!

Most of my photography is done outdoors, either land and waterscapes or foliage and fauna even portraits so i needed a way to extend my battery life without having to waste time switching batteries. The grip is light weight and blends with the camera to make holding it simple. There is a tripod attachment screw beneath the grip so you can still attach the entire camera to a pod or off camera bracket.

The item does what it says but it is bulky, the plastic parts don't all line up very smoothly. The nikon branded one I purchased for my N80 back in the day was very nice, compact and didn't feel like cheap plastic. If you can't afford the higher end model this is for you!
