I just got this multi color set of 64 LED battery operated outdoor/indoor Christmas lights with 8 functions a few days ago. I have to say that both I and my friends are very impressed with them. All of the LEDs work. None were out. The wire is green and everything from the LEDs to the battery holder are nicely sealed to keep water out. I can tell you I had them out on my patio railing the day I received them and we had some rain. No problems at all. The 8 functions are nice and the timer works like a champ. It is on for 6 hours and then off for 18. The timer works and when the lights came back on the next day they started up with the last function I left it using. The lights have been on sense I received them and they are still very bright! O. I forgot to tell you that the lights came with the 4 AA batteries needed. Several of my friends have seen the lights and liked them so much that they purchased a few sets too. I need to get some more myself, both colored and white. It is hard to find a good quality battery operated set like this. I like the fact that I don't have to run cords everywhere. This is going to be nice for my Christmas tree too :-) The LEDs look like they are going to last and they use so little electricity that I am thinking that the batteries that came with them should last 30 days as advertised. I also have used rechargeable batteries in it too and they seem just as bright. I hope this review helps someone make there choice. Merry Christmas to all :-)

*****UPDATE***** 11-19-12 Today I received two other competitors brands of battery operated Christmas lights. I ordered them all at the same time and I wanted to see what set was the best. I can now say that out of the three sets, this 64LED battery operated set in my opinion is the best hands down. As I say, just my opinion but I know know I am definitely getting a few more sets before they sell out. Once again, Merry Christmas.

*****UPDATE***** 11-24-12 The original "no-brand" batteries died today. This is to be expected because you don't know how long the batteries have been on the shelf and I never expect no-brand batteries to last as long as the brand name batteries such as Eveready brand batteries. Plus the cold kills batteries much faster too. I have now switched to my Turnigy "low self discharge" rechargeable NiMH batteries. They are working awesome! I also now have two more sets of these 64 LED multi-color lights. I have one set on my patio railing, one set on my 3' table top Christmas tree and one set on my work table top Christmas tree and all are working fine. We also have had some more rain a few days ago and all lights are working. All the LEDs in each set, out of the box, are lit. No problems at all! In my opinion they are well worth the money.

*****UPDATE***** 12-31-12 They lasted :-)
The lights went through a few rain storms, lots of wind and in the last few weeks, several snow storms. All LEDs are still lit on all my sets.
YES! They are waterproof :-)
The only bad that I see is the battery life. The batteries that I used for the lights on my small 3' Christmas tree inside seem to last a lot longer and I think that is because it is much warmer. I have been told that cold weather shortens the life of batteries especially rechargeable batteries. I would say my rechargeable batteries lasted between 13 to 18 days in the cold. All in all a awesome battery operated set of lights. Very bright and they should last many years! They are keepers in my opinion. Happy New Year :-)

*****UPDATE***** 01-19-14 Yet another Christmas in the books and all the LED's are still working :-) Each set is working like it did the day I first got them. I love these Christmas lights. Batteries seem to last nicely. The lights that I use outside every year have to deal with every extreme that the North East winters can through at them and this year has been extreme! Several days below zero, lots of snow and ice so far and a bit of rain too. One extreme to another. These lights were definitely a very good purchase for me. I never have to run cords through the house or outside again :-) Happy New Year all.

Good product, but don't trust the battery life claims

I live in the third floor of a 3-family house, without any power outlets in the attic, front porch, or front hallway. If I want to have Christmas lights, they have to be solar or battery-powered. So, I decided to invest in five sets of these lights, despite the relatively high price.

The good news: they are beautiful and work very well. The colors are vibrant and the light is bright. I got a number of compliments from friends and neighbors. The system has a built-in timer which stays on 6 hours, then shuts off for 18. So, the lights won't be on all night, wasting precious power. At the same time, if you want them to come back on for Christmas night (our family tradition is to leave them on for Santa) then it's easy to turn them back on. It has a number of different options for blinking patterns ranging from hyperactive to sedate fades to steady-on.

The bad news: the battery life claims are definitely over-stated. You can NOT run these for 30 days on a single set of AAs. We set ours to steady-on, and had to replace the batteries once a week. (As you might expect, this got expensive. Especially when we had already spent extra to get the battery-powered models.) Odds are using specialized batteries or switching to blinky modes would have helped. (FYI, a few lights will stay on past the 6 hour limit when power gets low to clue you to the fact that batteries need replacing.)

Overall, these are highly recommended. They worked well for my purpose, but next year I'll be sure to stock up on cheap (or rechargeable) batteries before the holiday season.

I ordered a set of these for our window and liked them so much we ordered two more sets for the other windows. The nice thing is, they are automatic - once you turn them on they stay on for 6 hours, then go off for 18 hours, then back on again. No worries about turning them on before you go out or go to bed and forget to turn them off.

They must be popular because when I reordered, they were already out of stock. (They were back in stock within a couple of days). :) I think it's nice that they came with batteries as well.

Even though they can go outside, I just put them on the inside of the windows with suction cup mini light holders - no worry about them blowing down or getting stolen. A couple of types are available on Amazon.com.

These are great. Price is high, but I bought this because of the good reviews. I got the cool white version and put them on a front door wreath. One set's included batteries were dead, and customer service gave me a partial credit so I have no complaints. The battery container is relatively bulky, but I have nothing to compare it to since this is my first set of battery operated lights. I love that this has an automatic timer and several modes. If you are using this around a wreath like I did I recommend buying some floral wire because you will get a more "well lit" look if you drape it around the front of the wreath instead of wrapping it.

Very nice when they work

I purchased my first set for $12.00 and after 2 weeks, I liked them and went back to order a second set and the price was $17.00. I did order 2 more sets
They are very nice when lit and you can program them to light in different modes.
The problem is after a couple of weeks, the timer would not work and when I turned the lights on, they would flicker for about 5 minutes and go off.
I replaced the batteries after 2 weeks and the lights still are not consistent in their functions. Sometimes they work and other times they turn right off.
I would probably try another set at $12.00 but I have already paid $17.00 for 2 additional sets before I realized they were not consistent.
