So far I like this Battery Tender Junior - model 022-0198LI Charger for the price and performance. I am one who is enamored with lithium batteries and play around quite a lot with them. I have a Battery Tender Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery, I purchased recently, at a good price on ebay and wanted to use one of their chargers to maintain it. I will use this junior for a while and if it performs well or not, I will come back and adjust the review accordingly. If you have a lithium 12v battery, it makes sense to use a charger, designed for it. I have a motorcycle and it would need to be charged differently than I have in years past through winter when not used, to keep it topped off, but if this can remain on the battery, it can be worry free.
Once again, Amazon was on top of it, I bought this setup for my 2003 100th Anniversary Springer Softail on Sat. night 12/3/16 about 6 P.M. and chose 1 day shipping for 13 extra bucks, it arrived at 9:15 A.M. Sunday morning 12/4/16. I had this installed by 9:45 same morning, hit the button and it fired up in 2 seconds, It is initially expensive but if it last 2 years i'll be happy, i go thru a battery a year with my bike, mostly from discharge sitting, even with a tender. Even with the factory 185 dollar Harley battery was 18 months, Crap I'm going battery broke with AGM batteries and I have had all the brands too, I can't recollect my bike turning over as fast and starting like this even from new. Hope it lasts the 3 years they say it supposed to, weight savings is always a plus, pull the trigger you won't regret it.
I have had numerous different models of battery tenders over the years and with the battery advancements I needed a Lithium charger for one of my motorcycles. It functions great like they all have. The only down side I see to this to other models I have had is that the majority of the unit, as you can see in the picture, is in the plug area. Not a huge deal if you realize this going in and have a bottom plug on a dual outlet available near where you need it but if you need to get some length it will take up some space on a outlet strip or extension cord.
Needed a battery for my motorcycle so decided to go with a lithium ion and came across the battery tender. I knew my old yuasa trickle charger wouldn't work on the new lithium batteries so I got the battery tender charger too. My only complaint is in the pic it doesn't show that clamps and terminal rings come with it and asks you if u want to add them for $6. I read the description where it should say everything u get in the box and it doesn't say there either. So it said get all 3 for so so price which I did and when I got the package the charger came with everything that was needed so I actually wasted $6. Other than that great product and would recommend.
I attained this charger as a nice package deal that supplied extra ring terminals and battery. I think a good way to purchase. My 1.5 years old Battery Tender International could not be used on my new Lithium battery. The Green Lithium Junior seems to work properly and is very small in size so convenience to plug into an area that has many low voltage devices connected is nice. Many devices will block other outlet connections.
Since I was spoiled by my previous Battery Tender charger with it large and bright LEDs for eye balling the status of the battery, I do wish the status LED was a bit larger.
I purchased this to maintain a WPS Featherweight Lithium battery that I recently installed in my motorcycle. I have never been disappointed with a Battery Tender product. I have not had this for long, but I am sure it will live up to my expectations. I did a bunch of research before I bought into the Lithium Ion Polymer technology. I was on the fence as far as whether or not to get a special charger. Basically, I learned that a regular battery charger, and/or your bikes charging system will never fully charge the lithium battery to 100% of its capacity. This lithium specific charger will not only top off the charge to 100%, but if it the charge gets dangerously low (Lithium batteries can be damaged by discharging too much), this charger may be able to save the battery from permanent damage.
You definitely need a lithium charger for lithium batteries because of the higher full charge voltage. I purchased this tender for the EarthX lithium battery which I installed in my Polaris RMK 800 snowmobile and wired in the included battery connection cable. Although the lithium battery holds it's charge well when not in use, I connect this every month or so. I also installed a Bikemaster lithium battery in one of my dual sport motorcycles. I added a tender battery cable which I had from a lead acid Battery Tender which uses the same cable. Yesterday I ran the battery down a bit while I was rewiring the LED blinker lights so I connected the Tender and charged it right back up.
