Put one of these on my cruiser motorcycle and getting ready to mount another one on my sport touring bike. A few things to note:

First, there is NO mounting provision on this unit. The exterior of the adaptor barrel (1.055" OD dia. on main portion of barrel) is covered in a plastic-like material, so you can get a decent grip on it with the right sized clamp. There is however a larger diameter section at both the top and bottom of the barrel, so you can't just interference fit it into a hole - you need something that goes around the main section of the barrel. Go to Home Depot or Lowes in Electrical department and get a 5 pack of plastic 3/4" half-moon conduit clamps (I bought Cantex 5133737B). They fit nicely on the barrel with just enough interference fit to hold it snugly against a flat surface. Then all you need to do is drill 2 holes and mount with SS 10-32 nuts & bolts or pop rivets. (I spray painted my clamp black as the ones I bought were light gray.) Works great!

Second thing is that the included little rubber cover is a bit flimsy, but it seems to stay in place OK. Think about where you mount it considering that the cover will be flapping in the breeze if it is not inside a fairing or behind a windscreen. This thing would be most awesome with a spring loaded hinged cover.

I bought this so I could use it on my motorcycle to run my CB radio. I was able to plug it into where I would normally plug in my Battery Tender and then use the cigarette lighter to plug in my CB radio. It works well although the plug from my CB fits a little looser than I would have liked, which causes it to lose the connection sometimes because it pulls out just slightly enough to interrupt the connection. I figure I can fix that by taping it once I plug it in and that should do the trick. Otherwise the whole idea of it is great and I can use it for what I intended. I have a friend who bought one (which is how I knew about it) and he uses it to plug in an oxygen type machine that he uses when he rides. He said the same thing about the plug being a little loose for his machine so he tapes it. It works.

I have a battery tender cable stubbed into the left saddlebag of my Goldwing. This allows me to put a phone or anything else in that bag to charge.

It also allows me to put something beefier on the battery, like a compressor, without fear of blowing the small fuses that are normally on an accessory line.

***WARNING*** Since battery tender cables are usually hard wired (as mine is) to the battery, anything plugged into this will continue to drain your battery even if the bike is off and you've walked away. I'm very careful with mine and only use it sparingly. I usually leave something in the bag with it like my wallet which gets my attention real quick if I forget about it.
