#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

FOX News host Pete Hegseth is back with what he says is his most important book yet: A revolutionary road map to saving our children from leftist indoctrination.

Behind a smokescreen of “preparing students for the new industrial economy,” early progressives had political control in mind. America’s original schools didn’t just make kids memorize facts or learn skills; they taught them to think freely and arrive at wisdom. They assigned the classics, inspired love of God and country, and raised future citizens that changed the world forever.

Today, after 16,000 hours of K-12 indoctrination, our kids come out of government schools hating America. They roll their eyes at religion and disdain our history. We spend more money on education than ever, but kids can barely read and write—let alone reason with discernment. Western culture is on the ropes. Kids are bored and aimless, flailing for purpose in a system that says racial and gender identity is everything.

Battle for the American Mind is the untold story of the Progressive plan to neutralize the basis of our Republic – by removing the one ingredient that had sustained Western Civilization for thousands of years. Pete Hegseth and David Goodwin explain why, no matter what political skirmishes conservatives win, progressives are winning the war—and control the “supply lines” of future citizens.  Reversing this reality will require parents to radically reorient their children’s education; even most homeschooling and Christian schooling are infused with progressive assumptions. We need to recover a lost philosophy of education – grounded in virtue and excellence – that can arm future generations to fight for freedom. It’s called classical Christian education. Never heard of it? You’re not alone.

Battle for the American Mind is more than a book; it’s a field guide for remaking school in the United States. We’ve ceded our kids’ minds to the left for far too long—this book gives patriotic parents the ammunition to join an insurgency that gives America a fighting chance.

Whether you're a conservative looking to push back against the progressive agenda or simply someone who cares about the education of our children, this book is for you.

Review

“Pete Hegseth brilliantly spotlights one of the most important issues facing our country: America’s children and their education. By exposing the undercurrents of wayward indoctrination in American education and reorienting the reader toward classical Christian education, he provides a solution to the feeling of hopelessness so many parents experience. Pete unrolls a road map to saving America’s children and providing our little ones a path to prosperity, success, and well-being.” — Kayleigh McEnany

“Forget what you thought you knew about education in America—this book will rock your consciousness. Battle for the American Mind exposes the insidious and hidden Marxist takeover of America’s classrooms, and arms every citizen, parent, and grandparent with a plan to fight back. For the sake of our Republic, read Pete Hegseth’s book.” — Mark Levin

“Pete Hegseth, along with David Goodwin, argues that a return to classical education alone cannot save American students from a century of ideological pollution and dumbing down of both K–12 and higher education. Instead, they envision “Christian paideia” reuniting Jerusalem with Athens and Rome, thereby restoring rational, empirical training that enhances faith and spirituality. Battle for the American Mind is cogent, occasionally polemical, and always engaging. Let us hope its passionate case for restoring morality and sanity helps to spark an American educational renaissance.” — Victor Davis Hanson

“It is time to rethink the importance of education and bring it back under the Lordship of Christ. Much of the compromise we see in the church can be traced to how we educate our children. This work pulls back the veil to reveal the sinister agenda of progressive education and prescribes a little-known antidote that will, with the grace of our Lord, have a real impact on the future of our kids.” — John MacArthur

“Pete Hegseth is a patriot, and as such he is unwilling to abandon the educational system to the predations of the militant Left. In Battle for the American Mind, Hegseth lays out the state of play: how far gone our educational system is and what we can do to take it back.” — Ben Shapiro

“If you want your civilization to continue, few things matter more than what your children learn in school. Our kids are learning to hate the society our ancestors built. Pete Hegseth has seen it, and in this book, he’s got a solution.” — Tucker Carlson

“Pete is a phenomenal patriot and this book is a must-read. The education fight is the most critical in America.”
Charlie Kirk

“Liberals have been using the education system as an indoctrination assembly line for decades. This book is an eye-opener and a must-read for any parent concerned about their children’s future.” — Dan Bongino

A Must Read!
This is a fantastic book! I am not a huge reader but when it is a subject that I'm interested in, I cant put it down. This is a book about the current situation that this country is in. It points out the narratives that the corporate media are trying to create along with indoctrination of far left ideas going on in today's schools & universities. I recommed you get this book.

I buy a lot of books and even read them sometimes! This one warranted a repeat reading and also an Audible listening. I was expecting it to be a good review of the American public school system, but it was much more than that and got to the roots of where government schools from K thru University are today and how they "evolved" that way over many generations. One of the very few books I've bought extra copies of to give away to my friends who enjoy thinking outside the box and being confronted with new information.

Pete Hegseth has undergone an "awakening" that has changed his entire outlook on education, our national identity (paideia), and how to save it.

The Battle for the American Mind is today the one battle that Americans must join, he believes, or we will lose our country. He argues that progressives have gained control over what Lenin called the "commanding heights," that is, K-12 education, gradually taking God and the Christian ethos out of public schools and replacing them with man-made ideas and values.

The Frankfurt School Communists who took over Columbia and other U.S. teachers colleges in the 1930s understood that politics is downstream from culture, and initiated a long-term struggle to hijack our culture by first hijacking the education of our children.

Today, ninety years later, they have succeeded way beyond their wildest dreams.

Pete makes an impassioned argument for a return to classical Christian education "to cultivate Christian wisdom and virtue in students." (p194).

British moralist GK Chesterton (oft quoted in this book) put it bluntly: "education is not a subject and does not deal in subjects. It is instead the transfer of a way of life." (p215)

And that is precisely why the Left has focused so much of its energy on taking over our schools. "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted," Lenin said.

Pete's despair over his own parenting grew as he came to understand the depth of the Left's control over the schools. "We love our children. We teach them forgiveness... and then we ship them off to Democrat camp... every day. We are willfully blind to the indoctrination of our kids because it is easier, cheaper, and more comfortable to excuse it away." (p241). Mea maxima culpa.

But Pete also sees light growing around him in the Classical Christian education movement, and suggests that parents go to classicalchristian.org to find a school near them. (Note: not all are listed on that website, including our own Lindesfarne Hall here on Amelia Island, Fl).

If you care about the future of your country and have despaired over what we can do to take it back, read this important book.

This book is spot on. For fifty years I have been saying that the public education system is a black hole, full of administrators making three times more than is reasonable and abusing tax payers money. At the same time the public education system (PES) treat parents like the enemy while at the same time begging for paper towels, tissues, hand sanitizer, etc. Teachers are told to teach for the test. Debate is discouraged. Disciplined has been abandoned unless the teacher gets mad because her class has been disrupted or something was directed at him/her. Teaching or even allowing critical thinking is considered treasonous. I get 1 to 10 page reports from people with master degrees and doctorate degrees that read like they are written by a sixth grader. Even with spell check multiple misspelled words, very poor grammer,, disorganized and lots of words that say nothing. Actually these reports would be an insult to most sixth graders from 40 years ago. This book takes one through the process of how this happened, the negative results of a century of children being used as lab rats by "educators", and how the trust of parents was abused. This book doesn't leave one feeling hopeless and helpless, in that it offers potential solutions. Great book, easy to read and understand and without question much needed by the general public.

Peter lays out the hold of Marxism and communism in the progressive movement to steal the hearts and minds of our children in the public school system. Chapter by chapter, the author lays out the over 100 years of the march to destroy America's children, undermine the family, destroy our country's faith in God, and paint America to our children as a terrible country. As a former teacher and college professor, I have seen firsthand what the author states in his book.

The book, for the most part, was comprehensive. It provided a lot of info in a small volume...perhaps too much. A lot of generalizations were made that would have been better served by more hard research, data and citations.
I think Hegseth was unnecessarily hard on who he called fundamentalist and evangelical schools, and yet said nothing about Roman Catholic schools, as if their carricula was superior, and conformed to his vision of the WCP. By what yardstick did he make this measurement/comparison? It's a rather unfortunate bias unsupported by data; just his opinion. I'm grateful faith based schools were there at all, regardless whether they fulfilled Pete's perfect vision of what the WCP should be.
What about Anglican, or Episcopal churchs? Two of the most liberal denominations there are. Were their schools adhering to Pete's WCP? I doubt it! He needs to be very cautious about criticizing evangelicals and fundamentalists for the demise of the WCP!! Perhaps he has a personal bias?
Overall, the book is a very good and informative read about a serious issue. I'm just afraid that it may be too late, unless we totally abandon our public school system to the radical left.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish, although I admit, the information that Pete has presented, was more than upsetting, when he so ably provided the timeline of what has taken place within the public education system. If you have a child, grandchild, niece, nephew, godchild, or someone you know working in the system, this book will lay it out for you as to why it is a must to look at options that will support true learning and not indoctrination.
