Halíka Dacomé is a strong character, who thinks with both her head and her heart-probably her biggest downfall!  I was glued to the pages, white-knuckling it all the way! - Tome Tender Blogspot

I am amazed! First, I'm normally not really a sci-fi fan but it's such a great book and has so many fantasy elements that I LOVED it!

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.

The Battle for Arcanon Major is an interesting story. The history of the Primords and the Elementals is well told. It was a fast read and kept my interest throughout. I often have trouble wrapping my head around science fiction but this story was easy to follow.

The battle scenes were described well enough that it was easy to picture what was happening but they weren't too graphic, which is a real plus especially in young adult fiction.

I did wish the characters were more developed. To avoid spoilers I'll just say that there were times I should have been elated or devastated for Halíka Dacomé and her friends but I didn't because I didn't feel much of a connection to the characters.

This is definitely a book that young adults would enjoy.

The Lost Dacoma Files is a book that, once you start to read it, will take you on an amazing journey in the life of Halika Dacome - in the 71st Dynasty of Capiok Dacome - Ruler of Xiryathan.

Hmmm, am I taking you into the future or the past? Interesting question that I'll allow you to answer for yourself when you read this captivating story.

Though Halika is the daughter of a King, at the age of 16, she becomes a warrior in a world of ongoing war. She is given the role of Legion Overlord which fits her natural instincts and skill. Not only is she unafraid to face the enemy, she is also compassionate and caring about those who serve beneath her.

Alexandra brings Halika and the main characters alive in the mind and imagination of the reader. She has presented an intriguing book of science fiction.

Wow. That was my first thought after reading the last word in this book. This was a fantastic book. From start to finish it gripped me. I finished it in two days even reading with a migraine headache.

I loved the character of Halika Dacome. She is the daughter of the king, and Overlord of the Army. She is a strong and caring leader. She cares deeply and compassionately for her people and the men and women under her command. She is loyal to her father, who hasn't responded to his children as a father since their mother died. As much as I like her however, when she used her power in the final battle, I didn't much care for the person she became. Yet, I felt for her too when she received her sentence. The quick change in the way I felt about Halika is all due to the skill of the author. I'm not quite sure how she did it, but she has a powerful use of words.

This was an excellent book with clean language, suitable for all ages from teens through adults. The romance element in it was sweet and clean. The plot was very interesting with a number of surprising twists. Even at the end of the book I'm not convinced totally one way or the other whether or not Nerido wanted to marry Halika purely out of love or also partly with an ulterior motive. Perhaps further clarity will come in the sequel.

I loved the plot of this story, and the many different directions it took as various incidences took place that cast a new light on the actions of the characters. The author has done a marvelous job of making you be able to relate to each of the main characters, whether it be to love them or to hate them.

The descriptions of the use of Halika's powers are quite vivid and create awesome imagery within the mind. Likewise the description of the world Xiryathon.

This book follows Halika Dacome, the leader of the army and the daughter of the king. Her people once ruled their planet but now they are almost extinct and are fighting to save the one last city (Arcanon Major) from their enemies. She saves her people from the threat but is ultimately betrayed.

What I liked about this novel was while much of the novel had an alien feel, you could really get inside of Halika's feelings and thoughts. She was torn between loyalty to her father, and saving her people. It was a roller coaster of ups and downs and ultimately a bittersweet ending.

I would have liked to have a bit more development on a few of the characters, as it would have helped me to understand their motivations more. And the king and the enemy leader remained a bit one-dimensional. It would have been more enjoyable if they were a bit more rounded with more good qualities.

Ultimately though this was a nice, quick read and I look forward to reading other novels in this series one day.

NOTE: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
