This story revolves around a young man from a very strong political family that disobeyed his fathers wishes to stay away from military life. The son refuses and starts a journey into space with everyone trying to destroy his career. Skipping forward a bit a ship is found and war is started with a mutated form of humans.

I found this book to be a decent read but certain thing annoyed me. The man thing that got to me was how the writer depicts the leaders of earth to be stupid, erratic, and blind to truth. Though after comparing their leaders to real life leaders I guess that's accurate lol. But it was the way the writer did it that was annoying. The other thing that bugged me was how the writer told the story from his perspective. Other than that I have no complaints.

I am greatly enjoying this trilogy. Larson is very clever in creating a future cosmos and it's inhabitants. He gradually introduces new beings and cleverly gets the reader into their heads while maintaining a star battle for the future of Earth. There is loyalty, character growth, companionship, romance and great battles. Larson keeps the reader on the edge of their seat wondering how the plot will turn and who will win the various games of whit he presents.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that I don't think it's fit for teens due to the promiscuous nature of sex it portrays.

Battle Cruiser by B. V. Larson is a military science fiction space opera which will leave you breathless every time you put it down. This fast paced, action packed book is a great example of sci-fi writing at its best.

I really liked the way the author wove a storyline that never let me down. With his ever changing plot twist and turns I had to stay on my toes to keep up. The adventure and intrigue kept me glued to its pages.

B. V. Larson has put together a cast of characters that are both realistic and easy to identify with. The main characters are very heroic but at the same time very down to earth and believable.

I really liked Battle Cruiser by B. V. Larson and highly recommend this book to all readers.

This an excellent start to a new series. The action begins roughly 2 centuries after the Cataclysm that has brought down the wormholes that connected Earth to its newly founded colonies. William Sparhawk, the scion of an aristocratic family, has joined the Star Guard against his father's wishes. Unbeknownst to Earth, some of the those colonists have begun to return and Sparhawk finds himself at the center of the developing mystery.

I am a sucker for a space combat story and this one was top notch. The writer in me chose 4 stars for two reasons. I found a couple of typos which isn't enough alone but the main point I found distracting was the repetitious reference to the defunded state of the Star Guard. Once the point was made, I found it distracting to the narrative to be brought up every time a defunct or poorly maintained system was introduced. But great story and I look forward to the next two installments.

This was a great read and very fast paced. I would like to see the next installment an army of the Betas from the tubes on Earth used as crew and space Marines. I would also like to see him depicted as a much wiser man and tactician.

This was a mix of characters that seen so familiar. They work so well together. Blends the story into an adventure with some surprises. This is a very easy to follow story and the science is not so complicated to lose you, so it adds to the story, not slow you down or bore you.

As with his other novels, this was also a good read. It kept me interested, wanting to come back to continue, and thinking about the developing story. While it wasn't the great classic sci-fi story of all time, it often became engrossing and I enjoyed it. I'm hoping the next book in this series will be out soon.

Mr. Parsons Sparhawk is like a slow cooker as the story develops he amassed more levels of flavor as the story develops. The next chapter I'll leave in BVs capable hands. As I am sure it won't just be an appetizer but a grand meal for us to injest. Thanks.

Good story. Wish Sparhawk was not so naive, and grow up...

I recommend this read, and cannot wait for the next in the series...
