Ali Abunimah's searing analysis of the struggle for Palestinian human rights is presented here in vivid prose with documentation and references that are unassailable. As someone who reads widely on the issue, I found Abunimah's challenge to the claim that Israel must be a "Jewish state" instead of a democratic one where all live equally to be refreshingly blunt in its logic. His assessment of the neoliberal restructuring of Palestine allows us to see this conflict within the global economic and political shifts of the past 40 years. And his chapters dealing with Israel's queer and environmental propaganda wars—pinkwashing and greenwashing—are spot-on.

To be blunt, The Battle for Justice in Palestine will be attacked and slandered by blinkered ideologues who cannot tolerate informed debate on this issue out of fear that Israel will be deligitimized. The tragedy, which Abunimah's book reveals so eloquently, is that Israel is doing a fine job of deligitimizing itself.

Having followed Ali Abunimah's work through the Electronic Intifada, a brilliant independent news publication I knew that I was on the right track in educating myself about Palestine/Palestinians and Israel. The hardships and injustices Palestinians have endured under an oppressive Israeli military occupation are numerous. This is a fact. As a trusted voice, a committed activist and passionate advocate for Palestinian rights, Mr. Abunimah puts it all in perspective in his book, The Battle for Justice in Palestine. He does an outstanding job of dissecting and analyzing this conflict to better understand how destructive it has been to Palestinians. His analysis is quite comprehensive in scope; the book is informative and sophisticated on so many levels. In my view, the "peace process" is a facade, a hopeless and tiresome round of meetings and conversations that lead to nowhere. Israel has committed itself to acting with impunity with strong approval from its enablers who still maintain that a two-state solution is the most viable option. Well it no longer is; it is most critical that the world wakes up to this fact. Do yourself a huge favor and read this thought-provoking book. It will educate, inform and most important of all, it will make you realize there is hope. Ali Abunimah is an intelligent and inspiring writer, someone I have tremendous respect and admiration for. I very highly recommend The Battle for Justice in Palestine.

As a social science researcher who studies Palestinians, I read books like this mostly to see how people frame the debate. I study the topic on a daily basis and not much information is new to me. However, this book was still valuable not just because it is an excellent collection of stories directly related to the struggle for equality for Palestinians, but also because of how Ali puts that information together.

He did an outstanding job of writing this book for two groups: Those new to learning about the fight for Palestinian rights and those who have an advanced knowledge of the topic. The book is framed to cover the basics. He addresses whether Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish state (as opposed to a state for all citizens), what happens to Israeli Jews if there is a one-state solution instead of a two-state solution, how foreigners (and Palestinian elitists) are trying to profit from Palestine rather than trying to legitimately solve its problems, the suppression of Palestine solidarity in the U.S., and more. That's a wide range of topics, but they are the basics. The good news for those who have a more advanced knowledge of the topics at hand is that Ali goes into a level of detail which will likely frame these subjects in a way that will teach them something new.

Another strength of this book is in how Ali compares the current issues around the struggle for Palestinian rights with other battles for equality. For example, he goes into detail about the change in Israel's reputation around the world (and in the US) and compares that with the change in American public opinion about gay marriage.

He has researched the topics well and his experiences in the region offer insights unavailable to those who offer "expert" opinions from afar.Few authors cover the region as closely.
Is he balanced? Not in all minds since his perspective is the "other side"of the story which is suppressed in the Western media, especially American. His emphasis on Palestinians is natural just as books authored by Israelis are naturally centered on the Israeli view.
I found his many references scholarly and persuasive.
Any reader convinced that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and most Palestinians are terrorists will learn from this book.

Mr abunimah is a courageous, fearless, and incisive commentator on the Israel Palestine conflict. he is skillful in his writing and not afraid to say some of the tough things that others are too lame or prejudiced or not as linguistically gifted and inspired as Mr abundance, would say

unlike most of his detractors, his integrity is unimpeachable. I am proud to have bought this very fine exposition of the aforesaid conflict, which in reality is more of an ethnic cleansing initiative on the part of Israel, blessed and supported by its benefactors

thank goodness that there are still a few journalists and commentators around like Mr abunimah, that still have some integrity and refuse to be shackled by the pro Israel biased politicians, media and corporations
