As other reviews have mentioned, you can play with one of four "kits": Assault, Medic, Engineer or Recon. Each kit means you have a different weapon and different accessory items. For example, the Medic carries a heavier machine gun but has accessory items of health kits and a defibrillator for reviving fallen comrades. Reviving fallen comrades can be a clutch maneuver in rounds where your team only gets a limited number of respawns...the reviving of teammates with a defibrillator does not count against the respawn limit and can quickly get everyone back into action. Engineers carry a lighter machine gun but their accessory items include a RPG for destroying vehicles and a tool for fixing friendly vehicles. Sometimes it pays to have an engineer standing behind your tank while assaulting an objective as you take a lot of damage but they can be constantly repairing you during the fight to keep you alive. The assault kit includes a grenade launcher and ammo boxes for resupplying your team. The recon kit is equipped with a sniper rifle and accessory items like C4 or a pair of binoculars for targeting mortar strikes (very handy when assaulting an objective). You can decide which kit you want to be equipped with every time you spawn. Additionally, if someone is killed, you can pick up their kit if you need to change.
Hopefully you can see how all of these different equipment combinations means that you almost have to work as a team. Sniping is a lot of fun but you will never take an objective without some folks with machine guns helping you out. If an enemy tank shows up, an engineer is a god-send, or someone who is carrying C4 if they can get close enough. Another aspect that really encourages teamwork is that if you have an enemy in your crosshairs, you can push the select button on the control to indicate their position on all of your teammates minimaps, as well as putting a red arrow above their person (just as all of your teammates are visible to you with green arrows above their head). This feature works really well because once an enemy's position is given away, most players naturally concentrate their fire on that position, eliminating the enemy quickly. Thus, it pays to mark any enemy you see. This is especially true for the recon/snipers on a team. I've found that it works great to find a bush to hide in where you command a decent view of the objective to be captured, or a corridor where the enemy is likely to approach your objective if defending, and just spend your time putting markers on enemies. There will usually be enough people in your team that will be running and gunning that you won't even have to fire your rifle for most kills. To make it worth your while, the game rewards you with points just for doing the spotting assist. By not firing your weapon, you can remain much more concealed from enemy snipers who many be doing the same thing you are because they won't see the muzzle flash of your rifle. This technique can also work well if someone on your team is operating a vehicle like a helicopter. From the air, they have a sweeping view of the battlefield but may have trouble seeing enemy soldiers hiding in the forest or inside a building until you light them up.
As other reviews have noted, the environments are destructible and this makes for great gameplay. If someone is hiding inside a building, you can bring the building down with C4, RPG or tank fire. You can blow holes in walls to get better shooting positions.
I give the game 4/5 stars because the balance of vehicles can sometimes make the battle awkward. Boats and helicopters are very difficult to kill, even with the RPG. The RPG is slow and not heat-seeking so you really have to be a crack shot to take down a helicopter or boat. Perhaps I am just a lousy aim (admittedly) but it is really frustrating that these vehicles are so difficult to destroy.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this game for people who like first-person shooters and who enjoy teamwork in their multiplayer.
Downright best FPS and dare I say better then Battlefield 3..
1.) Par with and possibly better then Battlefield 3's Frostbite2
2.) Film Grain kinda ruins it
3.) Environment is cleaned up and ready for an intense battle
4.) On screen animations and UI is kinda old fashioned, but it works
1.) Single Campaign is fun for awhile, might get dull
2.) Guns are incredible and do the right amount of damage via Normal or Hardcore
3.) Sniper bullets incorporate real time gravity, long ranges for increased bullet drop
4.) Always, blowing stuff up, walls/tanks/trees/grass/ground you name it
5.) Multiplayer is fun and can last for hours with including DLC
6.) No prone, you straight up crouch or run.
7.) Long and sometime worthy battles are endured
-- A very outstanding game I find more fun than Battlefield 3, unfortunately not many players play Bad Company 2 anymore. The Bulkiness and realism make you feel like your in there.
4/5 stars. Only if it had a few Battlefield 3 features it would be a perfect game.
If you are wondering about the campaign, that is extremly awesome as well. It follows a diverse story line of four comical characters in B-Company. You get to save the world, and have a few laughs while doing it. It takes about 7 hours on medium and takes you all around the world. There is lots of killing with extreml real graphics.
Overall, this game has a great multiplayer and an awesome campaign. The graphics are extremly real and the game is very balenced. If you like Modern Warfare 2, but hate the game balence, BUY THIS GAME! It will never make you throw a perfect controller through a perfect television, GUARANTEED!
