Now on to something that DOES matter..they made the “hit/miss” pegs bigger at the top to hold on to, having dexterity problems I thought this would be a plus, but once you dump them all out into the handy “take anywhere trays”, you’ll find they don’t all fit if you want to close the lid, so you have to leave some in the box. If you don’t take the box with you, the way it’s designed you take the chance of running out, we personally never have run out during a game, but after losing some, this may be a problem.
I would suggest anyone who played the Classic Battleship game & want to relive those days or show the kids how it was in “the good old days”, get the classic game, if you just want a game, this will work & the game will last a bit longer
1. Awesome buy/ giftable item especially in this pandemic situation times... This is a good time pass with kids at home (schools closed) especially during this pandemic situation.
2. The ships, drones, subs are very nicely detailed.
CONS/ Modifications:
There are 2 things that i want to highlight and i think should be improved, considering the price point.
1. The numbers (1,2, 3,...) and Alphabets (A,B,...) are in grey in grey background and very hard to see in low light/ night time. My kid had to squint and look closely everytime to recognize the numbers /and alphabets, so i had to color them in yellow metal paint marker for easy reading and visibility --> see attached picture
2. I think it would have been more exciting for kids to have the various warships and drones in slight different colors (maybe different shades of greys, browns, greens, whites, etc..)

Hasbro's Quality Department is shining through on this one........
Some things I didn't like:
1) Only 2 planes/ included-
A) slightly different color from the original ships
B) one of the planes is awkwardly shaped in that the nose of the plane blocks a spot (is this a hit or miss?)
2) There is no set spot for the planes when you are putting them away. The set does close if you leave them in the middle, but a minor annoyance. Also want to clarify the set DOES NOT CLOSE if you want to pause and come back to your game later. At most you can leave the plane and boats, but must remove all the red and white pegs to close.
3) The letters and numbers on the bottom grid are difficult to read in bad light. Make sure you have good lighting available when you play!
4) The set comes with an overabundance of red and white pegs that not all of it fit in the allotted sections. This is kind of nice in case you lose pegs but part of the problem is that the sides are low that it doesn't hold much to begin with. It would have also been nice to include a little bag or something to put away the extra pegs.
4) The pegs are visible from below! I don't remember this being an issue growing up, but if you have some sneaky kiddos, don't play on a glass table 😅
5) It would have been nice if the outside details of the cover actually moved! For my 90s set we would put a red peg up top for each ship sunk so it was easy to keep tally of the score. I somehow thought the outside details moved to do something similar.
I also want to add EVERYTHING IS VERY LOOSE, as in this is not something I would recommend playing during a car ride. If anyone were to bump the set if even just a bit, pegs could come off the ships and the grids entirely. This set functions for the very minimal of why I bought it, but man oh man, they definitely don't make them like they used to!
