Do you know that question was really long?
This stuff is basically a godsend. It feels (and smells, if you're into that) exactly like the juice that is packaged originally with my Acuvue Oasys lenses. I've tried quite a few different brands and this and biotrue or whatever it's called are the best. This just happens to usually be the cheapest of the two :)
I give it 3 stars for adding variety to the market, but it's more like a super-saline solution than a trusty multi-purpose. Without distinguishing itself as having a significantly lower disinfection ingredient concentration than most multi-purpose solutions, I feel that Renu Sensitive is dangerously misleading as a product.
This Sensitive version of Renu does not contain the same polyhexamethylene biguanide, a well-studied and effective antimicrobial agent, that is used in some other brands, and possibly some versions of regular Renu Multi Purpose*. Renu Sensitive has the also-common polyaminopropyl biguanide, but at 1/2 the concentration that I've read it should be used at and of what I -think- regular Renu Multi Purpose contains*. I've read that both polyhexamethylene and polyaminopropyl (at > 2-10X Renu Sensitive's concentration) was shown to be very effective against Acanthamoeba, but I'm not clear on which might be better. Efficacy against Acanthamoeba is a HUGE deal to contact lens users (search: Acanthamoeba Keratitis). Also, some quick searching on pubmed leads me to believe that polyhexamethylene is a better antifungal agent. There is always a fungus among us...
*Interestingly, the Renu Multi Purpose MSDS lists polyhexamethylene as its ingredient, but ingredient lists I'm finding at online retail sites say that it has polyaminopropyl . If anyone reading this has a bottle of regular Renu in front of them then please comment on its list of ingredients. I'd like to think the MSDS reference on the manufacturer's web site is more accurate, but who knows...
I'm not crazy: I've been plagued by a month-long eye infection and so am re-evaluating my choice of solution.Read more ›
It's not magical, but it's not any worse than OptiFree and it has even solved some of my eye irritation problems. And most importantly, it's much CHEAPER than OptiFree. It's NOT a no-rub solution, so you're supposed to rub your contacts in a bit of solution before storing it, but I've found that even so-called "no-rub" solutions work better when you rub a bit.
As others have mentioned the clear bottle is a plus since you can actually see how much solution you have left. Renu tends to be more smooth/slippy compared to OptiFree. Lastly, this box comes with a contact case (with clear caps), which is a nice plus.

I ordered contact lens solution, not lens cases. This is extremely overpriced for 6 contact lens cases.Published 17 days ago by James Adamek

Main thing I'd point out is this box contains 2 bottles, each 8 oz, for a total of 16 oz. I had intended to order the 2 x 16 oz box, which is a better deal, but the description is... Read morePublished 1 month ago by reader1
