Check your local university extension and do some reading online to find out when would be best to apply for your area and the weeds you have.
Also, make sure you apply properly. You need to go over your area twice, going perpendicular to the first pass on the second. After half of the area you're doing, stop. Check the bottle. You should have used 1/4th of it. Speed up or slow down to correct if need be. When you've done the whole area the first time you'll have 1/2 of the bottle left. Finish applying but go perpendicular to the first pass - example, if you went north to south first, go east to west the second time. Doing it this way will give you a chance to hit any spots you missed the first time. True, the weeds you miss on one pass will only get a "half dose" the second time around, but it's better than nothing.
Also make sure to apply at the right temps, and not too soon after or before rain.
Read the directions carefully and apply correctly and at the right time and you will get good results.
Purchased late March as the grass and weeds were just getting going. Shook the bottle well, connected our hose and applied and even coat (as best as I could) to our grassy areas which total about 3000 sq feet. Did this by walking south to north, then crossing the yard again west to east. The application used about 1/2 of the bottle.
A few days went by and we noticed a little yellowing of the crabgrass and a decent kill of a few other larger, thorny type weeds. After about one week I put down another coat, applied in a similar manner, using up the balance of the container.
The second application seemed to really have an impact, and in a few days most of the other weeds were significantly withered away while there was at least a 50% crabgrass kill (light brown and dead).
At the same time I was putting down lawn fertilizer, and the grass really came in nicely without being impacted by the weed killer at all. Three weeks after the first week killer application, I began weekly grass cutting and the weeds and crabgrass have now gone away (everywhere except at the very edge of the lawn near the roadway, where some still lingers a bit).
Bottom line is that this Bayer weed killer product worked, but it took a long time and had to be applied a couple times in order to get the job done. But it did work... so if you are looking for a weed killer to act as I have described, and are willing to put down multiple applications, and have the patience of a saint -- then I'd recommend you give this stuff a try. It did not hurt our fescue based lawn at all, so that's a bonus.
Go for it.
