This High Pressure Cast Iron Burner is a replacement burner for round Bayou Classic Cooker Frames.
This replacement burner fits Bayou Classic gas cooking stoves that have round frames (the BG12 burner fits stoves with square frames). Made of heavy cast iron, the high-pressure burner puts out a 150,000 BTU flame for hot, rapid cooking. A disc on the end held by two screws rotates to modify the amount of air taken into the burner. The circular part of the replacement burner measures 3-3/4 inches in diameter, while the overall length is 9 inches. Assembly instructions are included. --Ann Bieri

I bought this to replace a similar burner that was temperamental but in retrospect may just have needed to be cleaned. This replacement was easy to install and lit right up but, similar to the one it replaced, needed a light touch on the gas input and the air openings to achieve and maintain all the ports aflame. If you try to crank it up it will just blow out. This doesn't make it a bad burner, just not what I was looking for.
I was hoping to avoid the noise put out by my other burner (Bayou Classic BG10 - Bayou Classic BG10 High Pressure Cast-Iron Replacement Burner for Round Bayou Classic Cooker Frames) but the BG10, while louder, puts out more practical heat and you can crank it much higher than the BG12
The increased speed uses approx the same amount of gas as before. I connect my house Natural Gas line directly. The line was at about 10% open to keep a mostly blue flame before, now its about 15% open and there is a lot more blue flame.
I did not have to but anything on the stand to get this to fit. I did have to bend the bar that it screws into slightly though. Before my next beer batch I'll cut out a notch for the stem of the burner to fit up into to put the burner closer to the bottom of the pot and so I can restraighten the attaching bar.
i modified mine to burn natural gas by simply removing the brass orifice, i was going to drill it out but the thread was a common NPT size, which i don't know off the top of my head, so i threaded a hose straight into the orifice and it fired right up, flame isnt blue it is yellow but still hot as hell. i do not regret buying these one but, extremely heavy duty and have proven to hold up, 3 years and still going strong.
