When she finishes the crowd applauds her. She is moved and inspired to become a motivational speaker. She had almost passed up the opportunity.

"Be Beautiful, Be You", is a Christian Living book. Lizzie publicly appears at various venues and TV shows. She has a rare syndrome and looks different, she is gaunt and thin, and blind in one eye. She places emphasis on God and his help. She was a communications major at Texas State University. She gives advice and wisdom to those interested on improving their lives. She says to make goals and make lists on how to achieve them. Setting goals are important and helps one to find strengths and weakness.

She writes about friends, how to make them and how to keep them. Friends are people you want to share your life with. She has friends she shared the teen years with. She adds her dose of psychology, on friendship.

Saint Lucy is her favorite saint. She endures torture before being murdered. She maintains her faith, Lucy means light, and she is the saint for people with eye illnesses. Lizzie has a deep faith with God and the church. She is an inspiration. I recommend "Be Beautiful, Be You".

I'm not sure it's explicitly stated anywhere, but this book is written for those in their teens. Fortunately, I think anyone can take little nuggets of wisdom from this book, and I found myself smiling at the sense that Lizzie made clear through her writing. This book is largely religious, and that may make some uncomfortable. I suppose I came into this book with mis-intentions: this book isn't about Lizzie's story; rather, it's written in a way that prompts introspection and self-help. Everyone can use some of that. A more "polished" book would've been preferred (it has a few typos and a few repeated phrases), but I thoroughly enjoyed it. At around 100 pages, it can be easily knocked out in an hour, but the questions and free-write areas lend themselves to those willing to invest some time learning about their own thought process along the way.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Lizzie Vasquez' "Be Beautiful, Be You" book. Even though I'm in my 30's, this is something that helped me and hopefully will help and inspire other young women. I first learned of Lizzie a couple of weeks ago, watching a tv program and her story was so inspiring, yet her "spirit" and confidence shined through so much, I instantly liked her and decided I was going to purchase the book. Now, while I'm not an avid book reader and haven't completed a book in a while, I completed this one, mainly because it brought me back to simple truths, which is always good to be reminded of. I pray that this book gets into the hands of 1000's of young girls to remind them that true beauty comes from within, therefore it will shine so brightly that your outside reflects it. I also like the fact that she acknowledges her faith in God and how He has helped her to see herself as He sees her and all of us.

The special treats in the book were the journal and prayer section at the end of each chapter, allow you to ponder and reflect on specific issues that you face and how to change or adapt to the situation.

All in all. I give this a 5 star and hope others are inspired by her story and her ministry just as I was.

Lizzie is amazing. I wish I could go see her speak. I read this at the perfect time, as my daughter is in an eating disorder facility right now. I read it in one day. I couldn't put it down. I passed the book on to my daughter and she loves it! She actually has told many of the girls about the book. I really like how she asks questions and you can fill in the answers right in the book. In many ways this act alone is a damning indictment of our own culture and some of the shallow minded appearance focusing people that are in it.
