Sky was altogether different than I was expecting, and I love when that happens! As a PhD ‘whale-kissing’ environmentalist, I was ready for a shy, somewhat taciturn character, but instead got a passionate, determined, unafraid of anything character that really clicked with me.
Adam, from whose point of view the story is told, is a lawyer working with the old school homophobics. I truly thought he would take the lead, but instead, he was the one that was the significantly more reluctant character.
The story is straightforward, plot clearly spelled out from the beginning, making it an easy, lighthearted read. The chemistry is and yet is not strong. I didn’t connect with the two as they circled around each other, but once sexy times started, flames shot through the roof! The secondary characters are varied and interesting to say the least, but Carly is certainly the standout, creating intimacy through brotherhood.
I also enjoyed the elements included regarding the environment and protecting it. It was political without coming across as politics, and it allowed for significant character growth while placing the same ideas firmly in the mind of the reader. Nicely done, Ms. Lain!
In the end, I was not as thrilled with this as the previous two, yet still thoroughly enjoyed myself and am glad I read it. Rating it at 3.5 stars, I definitely recommend giving it a go and taking a walk through a relationship that starts with a dancing octopus.
I voluntarily read an ARC copy of this book for Divine Magazine from the Dreamspinner Press with hopes for but no obligation to provide a review.

Her main protagonists love story also had the potential of being a toxic relationship disaster - for Adam, it's all about the money. For Sky, it's all about being safe in the environment we live in.
But in the very capable hands of the author, the clean-up solution she gave James and Sky was a delight to read. It was fun and so easy to read, some may say slightly predictable to the outcome but I wanted that predictability (hey I'm a romance reader) and she didn't disappoint.
Adam James is a lawyer, a very good one but also very, very deep in the closet. Somewhere he intends to remain. His legal expertise is being used to persuade the residents of Laguna to accept a massive building proposal on toxic ground and in the process, making himself a great deal of money.
An octopus brings Adam and Sky unexpectedly together, neither knowing who the other really is (James didn't even give Sky his real name!) but after one perfect night together, both knew that one night was not going to be enough. Due to heavy work loads, they decide to meet again a week later, what they didn't know was that they were going to meet much sooner than that - not for a love tryst but one on a political battlefield with far reaching consequences......
How do these two strong men find neutral and safe ground to work out their differences? Does the end justifies the means? Or does money talk everytime? Will Adam step out of that very deep closet and show his true self to everyone?
Read to find out.
Does Tara Lain ever write a mediocre storyline? No. She is The Queen of Love Dreams for a very good reason. Loved it.
****I voluntary reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of the Book****
I enjoyed the story itself even though it really had nothing to do with any sports. Some of the scenes takes place on a beach but that was it. I probably would have picked a different title but that is what fits with this series.
Adam and Sky were cute together. Adam is a development lawyer and Sky is a environmentalist. They should be oil and water but they meet and don't know what each other does. They have a fling and both men want it to be more.
Adam is in the closet and doesn't see himself coming out of it anytime soon. He goes to his friends house on the beach on weekends to hook up and relax. He meets Sky when he goes diving and they click right away. Sky is used to dealing with the water and not people. They have one hot night and decide to see each other again. When Adam goes into court , he sees Sky is a witness for the people he is fighting. Sky can't believe that Adam is the enemy as far as he is concerned. He cancels his date with Adam. Adam and Sky are both so sad that they feel that can't work out these issues. I loved how both men wanted to reach out but for awhile just couldn't. Their chemistry was instant and I thought they just fit together. When I started reading this story , I assumed Adam would be the top in this relationship but boy was I wrong. In the end Adam decides his morals are more important than money and he decides to go for what he wants and live his life out of the closet and with Sky by his side. They work things out and Tara gives us a great HEA. Reviewed for Alpha Book Club.
