Anthony Perkins and Donna Anderson as husband and wife accept the inevitable to end the life of their baby. It is the final chapter of humanity coming to a close and portrayed perfectly in Melbourne, Australia. The threat of the end of Humanity by destruction and radiation is just as real today as it was in the 1950s. This film is a classic masterpiece with a continual message that will not end as long as nations in the world have the power to self-destruct at the touch of a fingertip. As a former Major in the USAF I show this movie every chance I have to warn people of this.
Anyway, the problem with the disc is that the video quality is grainy, even on my smaller computer screen. But worse, the sound levels are so low it's difficult to hear the movie even when turned up to the loudest settings. And when turned up to a high volume, there's a considerable amount of hiss.
I wasn't expecting a restored or HD copy of the movie, but this version belongs in the $5 or less bin.
My advice, DVR the movie when you see it on PBS or TCM and store your copy that way until a restored / HD transfer is made to blu-ray.
