This story is about missions that the governor sends them on and they find it hard to work together. Will the sexual tension prove to much for them? Will the missions make or break them? The suspense and mystery will keep you reading until the end of the last story and still keep you wanting more. The characters in these books are Dane and Shana. They are strong, tough characters that know what they want and how to get results. They have a connection to each other that they seem to fight one minute and hold nothing back the next. Their chemistry is great but sometimes, I just wanted to yell at them and tell them to just get it together. Both have been hurt in the past but I also think that this makes them better people. She is sassy and full of attitude and he has much of the same to add. The characters are true to life and you will find yourself connecting to them on some level. The secondary characters are supportive and just as connectable. The story would not be the same without them.
I can't wait to see what happens with the rest of this series, I know I will be reading more from this author. These stories are fast paced and will hold your attention. You will need to see what is hiding behind each page. Each book keeps flowing into the next. I highly recommend this book set as I know you will want to see Dane and Shana attempt to solve their missions.
I quite enjoyed this mystery series. Each book has a unique case that has to be solved which, I quite enjoyed. Some series tend to use the same basic problem (I.e. someone gets murdered)in multiple novels, but this is not the case here. One revolves around a sniper, another around Santa, etc. And the stories were very well written. I was pulled into each case, I couldn’t wait to see who the guilty party was!
I also liked the lead characters, Dane and Shana. Each is a headstrong ppersonality struggling with many emotions. They want to prove themselves, but the past haunts them both. There is attraction, but each of them struggle with if it’s right or not.
To me, this back and forth of the romance seemed a bit drawn out. I understand why they each struggle, but they are basically on the same merry-go-round for at least the first two stories. They seem to grow a bit in the second two, especially Shana. This is of course just my opinion, others may enjoy this.
Overall, the characters are wonderful, the cases they were on were original and well thought out. I highly recommend this book to those who like mystery books with some romance thrown in.
Dane and Shana are what I call on again off again, but not really because they are both so prickly when it comes to relationships.
Mystery and intrigue, and of course murder. Fast paced, complex characters, and the stories will have you hitting the page flip button long after you should be sleeping.
I fell in love the the characters of the Beachcomber Investigation series! The two main characters are an unlikely pair but work really well together. Peripheral characters reappear throughout the series which makes for great reading as we learn more about these characters. The setting, Martha's Vineyard, is realistic and true to life, right down to the brutal and desperate winters on an island inhabited by summer tourists.
Well written and well researched plots will keep you reading well into the night!
