Using craft to honor sentimental connections is big for me, so I absolutely loved the cross-stitch pendants with special initials, and the three generation pendant. I have some special, broken items from my beloved grandmother that I would love to make into a new accessory so I can appreciate it and think of her. There are some just darling holiday ideas too, my favorite is the Tiny Tree Terrarium. I can see doing one that I would like, and letting my children make a second one to decorate their room. That actually sums up many of the projects - they can be as challenging or streamlined as you want.
The book includes design tips, which I appreciated, especially the detailed color wheel and variations on each project to give me a solid starting point. I also found the photo gallery of materials in the front very helpful, as I often find incomplete tutorials on Pinterest and have no idea what items were used in creating cool pieces. Jumping off to make my own designs is hard for me - I will bring this book with me to the bead store to help me envision what is possible.
What I particularly love about this book is that it’s not just for jewelry - there are detailed instructions on how to make barrettes, bookmarks, hair combs, magnets and home decor. It’s perfect for making holiday and birthday gifts!
Lastly, as always, Beal makes the projects easy to understand and totally accessible - one of her hallmarks as a veteran craft book author. I recommend this book for everyone looking to add a bit of sparkle to their lives.
Customize every project to your liking, choosing your favorite beads and colors to complete your design.
I love Susan Beal's jewelry books (this one, and her previous book, Bead Simple), as they make jewelry-making accessible, clear, and attainable.
