I bought a beautiful wedding gown right after getting engaged when I went shopping with my mom, grandma, and future mother-in-law. I am NOT good at making decisions with other people's opinions involved. I loved the dress, bought it, and took it home.
Fast forward a couple months, and it's a month until the wedding and I try the dress on again. After looking at it yet again, I saw that it was not as figure-flattering as I thought, and it made me look disproportionate because the waistline was not defined. It basically fit me like a tent. Still a beautiful dress, but just not for me.
So, with a few weeks left, I need something that is picture-perfect that will get here in time with no alterations and that won't break the bank. I turned to amazon, and quickly found this dress. It is nothing like the dress I previously bought, but I was immediately drawn to it. It is a beautiful shape: form-fitting through the bodice, flatters an hourglass shape, and has a full, princess skirt.
I bought it on a Wednesday evening, it shipped on Thursday morning, and I received it Saturday around 1 PM-- and that was with standard shipping! Amazing! It came packaged in a plastic bag within the shipping box (bonus, because with a white dress, I didn't need any risk of anything getting on it!)
Fit: Definitely go by the size chart and save yourself some time and trouble. I am 5'0" tall, and relatively average-sized. I wear size 8 jeans, size medium shirts, and a 36C bra. I weigh about 150 lbs. If I went with my "normal" dress size, I probably would have gotten a large (because it IS Juniors, remember it does not run the same as MISSES sizes!!). However, according to the size chart, I needed an XL. As a female, it certainly pains us to have to buy a larger size than we would like, but TRUST ME, something that fits is flattering! Nobody will know the size, seriously. The XL fits me perfectly! If it weren't for the lace-up back, it might need some altering to take it in around the waist, but the lace-up sucks it in a bit, and it fits like a dream! It is exactly everything that I lacked in my first dress-- so flattering, and truly makes me feel beautiful!
Length: The length of the dress would be a few inches too long had I not already purchased some relatively high heels. Then again, I am 5'0" tall. If you are 5'4"-5'7", it will probably fit you just right with flats or low heels. If you are shorter than that, a nice pair of high heels will suit you well! :) My heels are about 4- 1/2" tall, and the skirt brushes the ground, but will not drag the ground or make me trip (at least I hope not... as funny as that video would be on America's funniest videos!)
Style: The dress is GORGEOUS! The pictures are very accurate, but I don't think they capture the true beauty of it. There are sequins and embellishments scattered in the skirt that are subtle, but definitely add some sparkle and extra beauty. I have a short torso, so the waist of the dress fits me more like a "dropped waist" dress, which is VERY flattering for my body type. It comes about an inch under my belly button, and then the skirt begins. The skirt is very full, but it does not make me feel like a cake topper. It really just accentuates/creates that perfect hourglass shape. It is the princess dress every girl dreams of, but it is mature enough that as a grown woman, I will feel beautiful and bridal on my wedding day.
The back: The back is a corset-style lace-up, with a zipper underneath it. The zipper is about 4" long, and the lace-up starts right above it and goes all the way up. The lace-up string is a beautiful, thick, satin ribbon, and the loops are very sturdy. There is a satin panel in the back that snaps in, just in case you need it for coverage (e.g. if the dress is tight on you, the lace-up will probably not cover all of your skin. The panel would give the lace-up a backdrop. If the dress has a bit more wiggle room, and you can lace it up tighter, you won't need the panel because the dress will close completely and your skin will not show.)
The occasion: I would definitely not recommend this for your average homecoming or prom. It is very much a ball gown, and is suited to very formal occasions. A winter formal, a ball, a pageant, or in my case, a wedding! No matter what you choose to wear this for, I can guarantee you will be soooo pleased with it!
The company: PacificPlex is absolutely incredible! If I ever need another formal dress for anything (or know someone who does) PacificPlex will be it! Efficient and friendly customer service, fantastic shipping, and BEAUTIFUL, well-made products that will make you feel fantastic! It is 4 weeks until my wedding as of today, and now the ONLY thing that I was doubting is taken care of thanks to them!
I ordered this dress on March 15, 2015, hoping it would come before my prom, which is on May 2nd, 2015. I got the ocean color, and submitted my measurements according to the chart. After I placed my order, it said that delivery date was May 6th, 2015...
I was SUPER worried. Therefore, I immediately contacted the seller, who was very sweet and understanding about my concerns! She assured me that my dress would come before my prom, and wanted to double check on my measurements in a more specific way than what the measurement chart provided. She asked that I provide bust, waist, hips, height, shoulder to floor, and even my how tall my heels were! Simply her asking me for my measurements made me feel a lot more comfortable with my order.
I received my dress on March 30th, 2015, which is WAY earlier than the expected arrival time, and it makes me very happy that the seller kept her word about how I would receive my dress before prom. An entire month ahead is something I didn't even think was possible!!
The pictures I attached are of me simply trying on the dress, which I ordered in ocean color. To describe the color, it's very much a "seafoam" green with 2 thin, lavender-colored layers over the top. It creates a super pretty color overall! Especially with the incredibly well-detailed silver jewel designs that goes all over the dress, it's just beautiful.
The dress is not as poofy as others have said it was, so that's definitely okay with me. Based on how specific the measurements were given, the dress fit PERFECTLY. Very snug, although I did have a tank top on underneath. There is a zipper that comes up right above the hips, and then a green panel (again, lack of a better term) that snaps in two places right above it. From there, you can either lace it up or down to tighten it with the seafoam green ribbons that come with it.
I'm 150% satisfied with my purchase. It was a bargain for such a beautiful gown, and I could not be happier with the customer service and the dress itself! Definitely worth it!
PS sorry about the band-aid in the picture XD
