Product Description

Five pounds of premium quality Kapok fiber filling for sleeping beans, Eco-Basics pillows, meditation cushions and many other uses. Kapok is a super soft silky cotton like fiber sustainably harvested from the rain forest and makes a luxurious natural fill. 5 lbs. is more than enough for most projects. A natural buoyant hollow fiber, kapok is so light and fine that the fiber floats in the air and can make a mess so its best to refill outside or in a space that is easy to clean. By Bean Products.

Wanted traditional fill for 2 zabutons I was sewing. Ordered 2 bags and it was plenty to fill both pillows each measuring 33"X28" with 2" rise. Kapok was very clean, very compressed and packed well. Delivery was quick also. Only negative was filling process but that is because kapok is super soft(like kitten fur)and fibers floated in air while filling. Do it in area where clean up is easy and dust/fiber settlement is not an issue. Face protection is a good idea also. It is really neat stuff and would use again.

The kapok was very securely packaged, which when I made a particular opening in the wrap, made it very easy to fill the body pillow I was constructing. After sleeping on my new pillow for a week, I can say that I've gotten better sleep and the kapok is great at maintaining a lovely fluffy loft. Thanks for making good sleep and comfort so affordable!

Product update nine months in-- love the pillows I made with this fill- they hold their fluffiness and don't mat like other fills I have used. Highly recommend for it's natural, non-allergenic properties.

Like cotton, but silkier feeling. When it's in a pillow it compresses like cotton (i.e. futons) and can be heavy. This may or may not be a good thing depending on what you're stuffing. I love that Kapuk is sustainable, plant-based and cruelty free.

Arrived pretty quickly. I don't know a whole lot about Kapok fiber and can't distinguish high quality product from less so..., but since i was looking for "natural" and less processed, it seemed to fit the bill since there was a little bit of bark in the fiber.

Reason why i purchased it, was to experiment making a home made sleeping blanket/quilt with the Kapok fiber and a double Silk Liner (the "shell"), for camping and hiking. Kapok is fairly lightweight and insulating, and quite cheap compared to many other insulating materials. No, it does not compare to Goose down in certain areas, but it's pretty warm, very hydrophobic (doesn't absorb or retain any moisture), and MUCH cheaper than goose down.

Someone else likened this to kitten fur, and that's perfect. It flies everywhere when you stuff it! Otherwise, it's great. I was shown an L-shaped pillow stuffed with this stuff and they wanted $250 for it. By using my own pillowcases, I made a huge L pillow and three regular ones with how much Kapok is in the box. It makes a cool pillow. (Opposed to hot.) I made these pillows because my neck and shoulders were killing me. I'm a side sleeper. This conforms to my body really well and you can bunch it up to fit the nooks and crannies.

Like the other reviewer, I filled one large zabuton with one bag of the fill. I wanted it to be traditional as well as the kapok is one of those timeless materials. Anti-bug and lasts forever. The only downside is that this stuff is flighty and gets everywhere. It's just the way the material is so be prepared when using it. It's worth it for the fiber though. Good stuff and I highly recommend it.

I was a little worried because the product description said 'fill outside' and, well, it's winter and I live in Minnesota. But this stuff is great. It was packed very tightly so it wasn't really messy at all and it is sooo soft and oh so natural. Love. Love. Love it!

When I received the package I weighed it as I do with all my items (guess I'm a bit of a pessimist!). Anyway it was about 1/4 lb short. I contacted the company as well as amazon. Amazon was very gracious and worked with me on the issue. As for the Kapok , there is definitely ALOT of debris seeds, pieces of plastic????, and leaves. I can handle that part since it is a natural material and so unbelievably soft. I made one standard pillow and one king size pillow for my husband (and there was a little left over) and we have both slept beautifully. I will reorder as I am going to make more pillows for my kids and guest bed! Thanks

I gave four stars...will change it to five if the next bag is actually 5 lbs!
