Very effective for pulling pork

I bought this item to expedite the pulling of smoked pork butts. I found the bear paws to be very useful in that regard, although they did have an odd curvature to them that did make their use in this respect a little awkward, but it was a significant improvement over the traditional method of pulling pork, which involves 5 times as much effort, and two forks :). I have not used this product to carry meat or roasts as suggested. The fact that the claws are made out of plastic leads me to worry that in time they may dull as they jostle around in a drawer with all of the other kitchen tools.

The perfect tool for pulling pork

I was so happy to find these! It's so easy now to pull a bbq pork butt - 10 minutes or less to finely shred a roast that started out at 8 lbs.

I park one in front of the meat, then use the other to reach through the tines of the first to pull the meat through. Shreds are sized perfectly.

Before, I'd start with forks and get annoyed when they'd clog up. Eventually I'd resort to pulling by hand.

These guys really shred some serious butt and do it in record time. They work great on chicken as well! Things can get a little messy if you get too excited with the bear role-play, so I recommend making shredding with the paws an outside activity. The only "negative" point I've found at all is that it's easy to give yourself a blister with them - gloves or a little soft grippy pad around the handle fix this. These also work well for just general handling of large chunks of meat.

So many reasons to get these. Do it. Now. Even if you end up hating them for shredding pork/chicken(which, you won't) you can use them while growling and chasing things around.

I initially got these claws for my husband. He barbeques all the time and one of our favorites it pulled pork. The claws worked great for both removing the meat easily from the grill and shredding it. I use them when making beer can chicken. The chicken always sticks to the can preventing it from easily being removed, but the claws make it a lot easier, though it' not nearly as pretty in the end.

Using the Bear Paws is much more effective than using forks to shred meat and was great because I could shred it when it was hot unlike using my fingers when I had to wait for it to cool off. These did a great job of shredding the pork shoulder for barbecue pulled pork. We cook it in a slow cooker, then shred it with these. We love them.

The only problem so far is that it was SO much quicker to shred the pork than using forks, that the timing of the rest of the meal was off. The pork was ready much sooner than expected, so everything else was still cooking! Be sure to adjust your expectations - this will make pulled pork much quicker to shred.

WOW, what a great product. If you do BBQ of any kind, pork, chicken, beef and want to pull the meat, this is a must have. I used to spend 30-40 minutes pulling a boston butt but the Bear Paws let me do it in about 5 minutes - for a 9 pound roast. A must have for any serious BBQer.
