Product description

-- What could we do when our knives or tools are dull or even chipped?
-- Don't worry, BearMoo sharpening stones can help you solve this problem.

240 Grit Side:
This coarse grit is highly recommended for very dull edges on knives and tools. Whether you're refining a worn edge or establishing a new bevel angle, the coarse grit is the grit accomplish this task.

800 Grit Side:
This grit is a very good overall grit. It is fine enough for many jobs and still have enough abrasive properties to do sharpen knives and tools that are not very dull. If you keep your knives and tools in good shape, you'll find yourself reaching for this grit level often. This grit is also very common for the final stage for many kitchen knives.

Instructions to use:

1. Soak the sharpening stone with water for 5 minutes, then put it on a steady surface such as
    a table or a desk.
2. First use the #240 grit side for coarse grinding in 10~30 degree angle, push the knife
out with a little force, and then gently retracted. This process takes about 15 minutes.
3. Then use the #800 grit side for fine grinding. This process takes about 10 minutes.
4. After sharpening the knife, clean the knife with wet cloth or water, then dry it.
5. Use a soft brush to clean the sharpening stone, then placed in a ventilated place out to dry.

Attention:

1. Do not only use the middle of the sharpening stone, please make full use of the surface
    of the whetstone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wears very quickly -- it practically dissolves when sharpening
By sRobot on March 4, 2019
I apply a fair amount of pressure when sharpening blades, about 5 lbs of downward force, which is a must if you don't want to sit around all day sharpening a blade. After sharpening with this stone for a few strokes, it was clear that this stone was going to waste away quickly as it began to dissolve. This was my first time using the stone. I purchased it because of the low grit @240 and the large size (area) of the stone which is big. I knew the price was low.

The 10" blade is a meat slicer (think Brisket knife) was very dull and I really put this stone on the 240 grit side to the test. Unfortunately I had to use my more sturdy but much smaller stone to achieve the edge I wanted. I finished with this stone to get the low grit and finished up with a 1000 and 6000 grit stone.

This stone sort of worked, but it's clear it suffered a lot of wear. It will take time and effort to make this flat again for reuse. It will probably end up in the garage for sharpening garden tools.

1.0 out of 5 stars I really wanted to like these...
By Josh Hunsaker on April 21, 2019
When these stones arrived, the packaging was great, the presentation was great, they worked great, or so I thought. As I tried to initialize my hand plane's blade, I realized that it wasn't sharpening evenly. I initially blamed this on my hand plane for not being manufactured well but after marking my blade with a sharpie, I realized that each stone sharpened with a different pattern. This isn't possible unless the stones aren't flat. Because the stones were not sent with a maintenance tool to flatten them, I'm deciding to return them. These stones would likely be great for non-precision work but when you need a "perfectly" flat edge, buyer beware. I purchased both the 240/800 & 1000/4000.
