Frankie grew up sleeping in a small bed very similar to Harry Potter's, fan much? When Aneros shows up planning to kill her father for not paying his debt she gives herself in exchange. No time limit, no negotiating, just a straight up swap. The big, bad mafia guy, Anteros, controls Frankie by making her sexually aroused and leaving. They almost never actually have sex. He tricks her into relaxing and enjoy dancing with him only to actually drop her to the floor, twice. Half of his money comes from selling women to the "Institute" to be auctioned off to perverts so it's hard to imagine him having a good side. He plots with his henchmen to kill her if he doesn't kill her before the New Year. They decide to all kill "a girl" to celebrate the New Year when the ball drops.
I wanna talk about Beast first, he and Frankie are amazing characters in their own ways but I love Beast. But not in that swoony OMG he’s going to be your next book boyfriend way. I mean sure he could be, maybe. But I might be the only one who does like him, I always have soft spots for the dark and twisted Heroes who's hearts are just buried a little extra deep and guarded. He does some pretty awful things though, but I’m intrigued because there are a few times where he isn’t some crazy lunatic, and those tiny glimpses have me hooked. Could Frankie break him because of that? He’s your perfect Villain, he does as he pleases and it doesn’t matter who he hurts while doing it, he’s feared by everyone and he likes that.
Frankie is strong, she’s courageous, and a bit feisty. In the midst of such a total cluster of madness, she stands tall and strong not once whining about her circumstances. She somewhat embraces it which that helps mold her into a more fierce version of herself. I think this is only the start of what’s to come from her. I have my ideas of what the future for her might hold and to me, with the way this book ended I think that she’s going to amazes us even more in the books to come.
I am left speechless, this book isn’t a hearts and flowers kind of read, it’s a very very dark and ugly story. But I loved each moment, Mary Catherine was able to evoke so much emotion from me. Emotions that with these types of reads very few authors have ever been able to make me feel like I did with this book. It’s not romance, this isn’t a love story, but if that were the case it’d be something entirely different than what it is. I think that this series is going to be amazing, it’ll push boundaries, and to me this is Mary Catherine’s greatest series yet.
I’d like to thank Mary Catherine Gebhard for the gift of an ARC for my honest review, I can’t wait to see what you have planned for us next!

Maybe I'm in a book funk after re-reading the delicious Vicious by Sinden West, or something, but I can't find a decent book to follow it. This had potential but the Author is TRYING TOO HARD imo.
"With *car-accident* slowness where I saw what was happening but kept trying to rewind to the moment before, I watched my captor bend down and meet me face to face. For the entire car ride his face had been hidden and I’d thought—hoped even—he was going to make that a *tradition*."
All that's happening here is the FMC is in a car, and the MMC is outside waiting for her to get out. 😂
Nope. Nope. Nope. 😂. Not for me.
Beast was just abusive and controlling. Cant really say I liked him. Frankie was strong but to be honest obviously was suffering from Stockholm syndrome.
How can you fall in love with someone who smacks you, abuses and bullies you.
I was just skimming the pages in the end just so I could finish it but wont be buying the next one regardless of the cliffhanger.
