Amazing to see the accuracy with which Burroughs and Kerouac saw what would happen as militarization, cloddish hatred and fear of difference have reached the point they have today in our surveillance state and its wars of occupation, in other countries and in our own ghettos. Amazing too, to compare the way the major media of their time could be used in ways that it cannot be today, when everything is so specialized and relegated to niche audiences.
