**SPOILERS ... sorry**

Before I start, I want to say that I love this author and her previous work. I haven't read the first book in this series, Throb, so I guess I did things out of order. This review was extremely hard for me to write because I didn't love this book as much as I wanted to. I was a fan of one of the main characters, Flynn, he's a pretty awesome book boyfriend to add to everyone's list.

As the book started off, we got to know Lucky, she co-owns a bar with her good friend; she's funny, witty, sings beautifully, has stage fright, and is dating the ultimate douchebag. Who just happens to be this big rockstar that she has pined over since she was fifteen. They've been together for over a year, but things change when Flynn enters the story and she starts to question everything.

Swoon-worthy Flynn, you guys will love him. He's sweet and sexy, the best uncle EVER, and sings like an angel. AND here's the bomb dropper, he was recently signed up to sing with Lucky's boyfriend's band.

At first, I took a liking to Lucky and that's when things got a bit unfaithful. It's pretty easy to tell from the start, who she would end up with, but from beginning to end, there are moments when it was hard for me to stomach. Her actions weren't exactly the best and it definitely could have been handled better. You'll ultimately feel bad for Flynn because for most of the story, he's the guy on the side until she mans up and takes control of things. The attraction between these two just comes off the pages!

Cheating and love triangles are my biggest 'no', when it comes to books I read. Even if your boyfriend is the biggest douche nozzle in the world, just break up, don't cheat on him. And it goes both ways.

I received a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads

Beat was a great read cover to cover! I couldn’t put it down and didn’t want it to finish. I have never read anything by Vi Keeland before, but I have to say, I’ll be checking out her other books shortly. I’ll admit the cover totally drew me in, which is unusual for me! But that beautiful man on the cover is just that and he’s so totally the main character Flynn, it was a great visual!!! Flynn is an up & coming rock star that’s sensitive and artistic but also very dominating and cocky on the stage and in bed. I fell in love with his character almost instantly. Written with just enough swagger to make him smoking hot and just enough sappy poetic musician to make you love him, he grabbed my attention immediately. I felt he was written to perfection.
Dylan Ryder is the aging Rock God with a chip on his shoulders about the new guy on tour and the way his girl, Lucky, tends to look at Flynn. I almost loved to hate Dylan. Poor Lucky is caught in between the two men with her own dreams & aspirations to get back on the stage herself and overcome her severe stage fright. Lucky’s angst is heartfelt and very believable. She doesn’t want to betray Dylan, who is her teenage Rock & Roll star crush come to reality! But she’s also trying to be true to her heart when she starts falling for Flynn, awesome love triangle ensues and the story flies by in a blur. I was thoroughly immersed in their world and sad when it was over.

Favorite line by Flynn:
He smiles. “Now do you believe me? There’s no going back once you’ve crossed into the blur”
“I don’t want to go back. I want to go forward.”
“Me too, baby. Me too. But right now, I’m going to go up & down.”

Beat was the first book that I had read by Vi Keeland and it definitely won’t be the last.

The beautiful cover is what first drew me in, but once I read the blurb I knew that I HAD to have it. A love triangle between a girl and two rock stars? Hell yes. Count me in.

Luciana Valentine, aka Lucky, seems to have it all. Not only is she the co-owner of a wildly popular karaoke bar, but she also happens to be dating one of the biggest rock stars around – Dylan Ryder, lead singer of Easy Ryder. She grew up with his posters on her walls and after having been together for a year, she assumes she’s in love.

Then Flynn Beckham walks into her bar and she’s instantly drawn to him. He’s charismatic, insanely hot, and down to earth. When he joins the Easy Ryder tour, the two end up spending more and more time together. They have great chemistry but Lucky is torn and doesn’t know who she belongs with – the rocker that she’s adored for years or the guy who makes her heat beat just a little bit faster.

I was drawn into this book from the very first page. I immediately liked Lucky and thought she had spunk. Watching the way she was with her best friend and the way she handled the bar patrons, I just knew she was my kind of heroine. I did want to reach into the book and smack her a few times for the way she handled some things, and there were times that I wish she would have grown a backbone, but that’s okay. She’s human and we’re allowed to make mistakes.

Flynn was amazing. I loved him from the start and that love only got stronger as the story progressed. He was funny, caring, thoughtful, and hot. It was also very endearing to see how loving of an Uncle he was to his young niece.
