Bottom line - this isn't an easy topic and Angela Bickford covers it with empathy, no-nonsense tact, and humor. she doesn't hold back but talks about some of her hardest moments in a way that will make you laugh and cry by turns. This book isn't for light-reading, but is perfect for anyone who is facing or tough pregnancy situation or knows anyone who is.
Do you have a friend facing bed rest? You'll want to read this book to understand more of what they are going through and for Angela's tips on how to be a friend to someone on bed rest. This would also make a perfect gift to give someone on bed rest - let's face it - they will NEED great books on their Kindles!
Features I especially enjoyed:
Tips from other people - You don't just get Angela's perspective, you get to hear from other women who have faced this.
Her humor - I cannot stress this enough...there are moments I literally laughed out loud reading this book. Fabulous.
This is a must-read for women on bed rest and friends/spouses.
As a friend I felt really helpless to support her. It was hard to know what to do or say. My heart was yearning to reach out to her, but I was also struggling with an undefined boundary not wanting to cross any lines in this uncharted territory. I didn't want to push the subject and just felt PARALYZED to do anything.
After reading this book really helped me take the reins and find a way to support her. Me and a couple other girl friends have arranged to visit her once a week (at least). She makes a to-do list and we get it done. She never would have asked for this on her own, and I'm SO GRATEFUL for this book as a resource because it has really helped me support my dear friend in ways I wouldn't have considered without some insider information.
So, even if you're not on bed rest, I find this book to have a lot of great information and I recommend it to anyone who has a friend on bed rest who may not know how to help them/relate to them.
